Post by Thesubielover »

Will this full set up work for our 1st gen tlegs? I know I'll probably need fuel injectors, and a new fuel pump. Anything else?

Thanks for ther help.

I wouldn't go with the td05-20g, you'll be dissapointed with the lag. If you want a bigger turbo, I'd go with the td05-16g. You should look into the Robtune to go with the turbo, 550cc injectors. Its a good bump in power without spending a ton of money.

That kit also looks like it's meant for a GD WRX throttlebody location. Gonna be real tight on the firewall with an SS. Likely have to get creative with the y-pipes and such.

i wouldnt put an ebay turbo on my car, unless it was a real brand that the guy was just selling on ebay. i know wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many people that have had them blow up in 500 miles. the rest looks fine though. i agree go 16g.

The TD05-16G is great. I have one on my car with a WRX intercooler and I see full spool of 18psi around 2600-2700 RPM and holds to redline no problem.

It would be cool to see some pictures of your car posted up here. ;)

Also as far as I am aware, there has never been a T-Leg that has had leather seats from the factory. I bet yours have been swapped from a different car. Still cool to have them. Do your door panels have a leather insert too?

Yeah the entire interior is leather, with a soft touch leather dash and door panels. They seem pretty factory to me. They have the lever to raise and lower the driver seat, plus a lumbar support wheel. The back seats are leather too, with a leather arm rest in the middle. I need to find my camera, but I'll try to get pics up soon. I was going over your thread and yours looks pretty clean too man. I love these cars. I guess there is pro's and con's to having other people not know what they are. One pro is hopefully no one will try to jack my shit here in seattle.

There is a sticker on the window like he went to a shop and had everything done in soft trim leather. I need to find my camera and I'll upload photos for you. I don't think he would have changed the back seats too. Do you have pics of your wrx's interior x2hawt4ux

It's a really nice car. I saw it last week and it's extremely clean and kept up really well. I was impressed and jealous at the same time.

Damn! That's super low RPM for 18psi. I think mine is more like 3,400 RPM @18psi. TD05-18g.

Yeah, it definitely hits hard and fast. If I floor it in first I get a little wheel spin when the boost hits and the front gets light all at once. Redline arrives in the blink of an eye and bounces the rev limiter if you are not careful. I always try to avoid boosting in first since it's so violent I think I'll break something. Lol. I'm very happy with the spool on a 16G.

That's cool. Mine does not break the tires loose at all unless I turn the wheels and then it's happy to get a little crazy. I think my car is a bit lacking though. Need different block.

Yeah, I got a half point of compression on you Kimo (or more?), not to mention the crappy flowing EJ22T heads I have which push the torque peak way down, so although I bet I could best you on low-end torque (and tire spinning/transmission breaking :P), you would probably have me easily on top-end HP. I start to run out of power by 6k and need to shift back down into the power peak. IF we end up having a dyno day up here and our cars both run it will be interesting to see the results with such a similar turbo and exhaust setup, but different goals for where the power is generated dictated by the block and heads.

Thesubielover,
It sounds like the original owner probably wanted an SS with leather and of course couldn't get one, so went to a shop and got a very expensive leather conversion done. As far as the back seats, it would be a stylistic abomination to have the fronts leather and the rears cloth, especially on a fairly new car at the time (I'm assuming), so I can see why those were done too. It's cool that the door panels and everything were done as well. That must be a nice car, and low mileage too! :)

Thanks Alphius and Kimo. Yeah I bought it from the original owner in Bellevue WA. He only had 113k original miles on it when I picked it up. That means this guy couldn't of been driving more then 5800 miles a year on the car, which is pretty sweet. Everything works like new. The driver one touch power window, radio, power antenna. The truck and all interior in general looks new. There isn't a dent or rust anywhere, the steering wheel is OEM and doesn't have wear signs at all. Kimo I was wondering, that box I have that you have been looking for. The charcoal box (black). Why mine has three hoses and your had two. Most of the ones I have seen online have two.

The three hose charcoal canister is a turbo leg specific piece. The N/A cars had a two port.

Silver with black interior, are you going to the dyno day? I should have my catback mailed to me sometime within the next few days. Then to the shop for 3in turbo back :). In april I'll be getting the mbc and gauges on. Pretty excited. I like the camaro man. I have a 1972 chevy c/20 that I got when I was 15 for my birthday. Since I've gotten it, Ive installed a new crate 350/350 and re build the tranny. For some reason I'm just in love with subies now, especially when its snowing.

Here is a link to a guy's thread on here who claims to have the same seats as I do. Mine look 95% better though. I've done some quick reading and it doesn't seem like it was a stock option. So some owners must of had this done. I'm going to try to get some pictures. My girlfriends camera is dead and she cant seem to find the cord for it.
