Thank you for that, I'm gathering parts to install my Z4 ecu, But I'm going to run the 02+ cop setup. That information will definitely help me out.

Just posting here to express my praise of the robtune. After fixing a little confusion with pinning on the ecu, the car is running great! It has never run this well. I am currently running wastegate boost on a td05 as I want to figure out a better IC setup before I raise boost. BTW, 7500RPM is scary!

I ended up installing the ej20g board into a ej22 n/a case which fit perfectly. Also, has anyone noticed how similar a ej22 N/A ECU is almost identical(besides the chip numbers) to the EJ20g even with the extra chip space?

Thanks rob!

Interesting! That solves the issue of "custom mounting" the EJ20G case in the stock location. Thumbs up for the idea!!

Rob already created this THREAD to re-use the EJ22T case, which should be the same as an NA case since they fit the same.

EDIT: The EJ22T case doesn't work great w/the EJ20G ECU, but....

The JECS-babeled case from a '92-'94 NA/non-turbo Legacy ECU works well w/the EJ20G's ECU board (not the '90-'91). See Above. The screws on the side match up and hold it in place like stock. Unscrew the 6 (PITA!) screws on the sides of the case, remove the 2 screws that attach the ECU board to the case's bottom piece, swap it to the bottom of the NA case, and reattach the cover. You'll likely need a set of vice-grips to remove 1 or more of the screws on the sides as they strip easily.

hmm, i had a hard time figuring out how to mount it as the widths on the side mounts were different. Maybe it was gasoline fumes. I took apart a ej22 n/a ecu and was even able to reuse the ej22 n/a mounting screws.

I apologize for not looking in this thread in case it's already posted, but is the ej20g ECU based off a JECS or Hitachi ECU? If it's based off a JECS ECU, then using the non-turbo JECS ECU housings would probably work best.

It doesn't fit properly in the ej22t case. Tried that already. I used both cases (top of one botton of the other) and duct taped them togother.

So is that diagram on the other page the new diagram when using the 20g ecu?

Has anyone removed the charcoal canister from there Tleg after putting the 20g ecu in? The 20g ecu doesn't use pin47-6, which is the purge control for our cars. If this was removed it would help free up a little space in our cars.

Just a thought.

You can remove it, but pressure will build up in the gas tank. The normal hiss you hear when opening the cap will become a hisssssssssssssss. I'm serious. I didn't run the canister for a while and at fill ups it hissed for a ridiculously long time.

Does the 20g ECU have any canister purge control pin? If so, I'd just repin that pin.

Yeah, I'm not running the charcoal canister in my car either and each fill up results in a fair amount of hissing. I've gotten used to it though.

I have been in hiding. It was a rough end of the year for me time wise that spilled into a 2 week vacation beginning of 2013. I am still working through my backlog of orders, but it is getting better. I put priority on email over the forums, so it is always best to contact directly. Indecently, in an attempt to untangle my regular email from tune related email, I have a new address for the latter; rob@robtune.com. That should be easy enough to remember :)

While I am here, I can catch up on a few posts;
subytech wrote:
After re-reading many more times and double checking in multiple places, including this post by rob about coil conversion over on nasioc, I've confirmed that the spark ignition numbers in the 20g ECU pin out don't correspond to cylinder location but to the firing order of the engine.
Right. I found this out a while ago and I spell it out explicitly in my coil conversion instructions;
If you are following from the wiring diagrams, this is a very confusing wire up. The signal pins on the ECU are labeled coil 1, 2, 3, 4. The wiring to the coils are also listed as Coil 1, 2, 3, 4. The trick is that they use different conventions. For the ECU, the pins are labeled in *firing order*. For the coils in the diagram, they are listed as the actual cylinder number.
You can also see my hand written notes on the schematic;

Thanks for the post Max. Glad you like it. That is a very interesting find on the N/A ECU. Any chance you want to send that spare NA ecu for me to play with? I am curious if it could run the Ej20G code. It would be fantastic to find another source for core ECUs.

Lastly, over vacation my wife (who has the art skillz) and I worked on a logo. I am quite pleased with how it turned out.
