I just copied & pasted titles from the original threads, and didn't bother checking. It's fixed now.

It was moved because of misinformation in the thread. If someone wants to start another one, I'd re-link it.

I feel like ej22t and N/A Head bolt torque specs should be easily noticable on this list.

I searched and searched for 45 minutes today, everythig i found was " torqued to sepcs per haynes manual. " my conversation with stephen today said that that wasnt tight enough.

The torquing procedure pretty convoluted, and is in the FSM you can d/l from me.

If you use ARP studs, the torque specs are going to be different.....and some shops use a different set of torque specs for the stock head bolts.....

Yeah thats what I heard as well. Trying to find out what their specs are. Reason being i just did a head gasket job and the gasket failed instantly. Went off haynes for torque on NON OEM h/g (not my choice) so im trying to see what other torque specs there are.

CJ, here is the latest and greatest from Subaru: (see second post)
http://sl-i.net/FORUM/viewtopic.php?f=5 ... rque+specs

I've used this procedure on 3 different engines, including my SS, with no problems whatsoever. About 60k combined miles. Lord Flashheart is a character, but I PM'd him first and he verified that his shop got these from Subaru last year, and he's used them on many, many engines without a single failure (related to HG's).

I see that is for DOHC, or does that matter any more?

The steps of backing off the bolts halfway through torquing them down makes no sense to me.

Ahh. I didn't catch that you were working on an SOHC. I believe they are different, and I just asked Lord F for them. I noticed my 95-99 Legacy Haynes manual has radically different torquing procedures and specs for DOHC than OEM for DOHC.

Yeah I don't know about that. Like I said, I haven't had a problem with the newest "official" technique by doing that.
