Formula 1 on NBC Sports

Post by Legacy777 »

I watched the Australian opener this morning and it wasn't too bad. The commentating wasn't super annoying and there was actually a couple leader changes.

Well now that the season is well over with I think I can say that NBC did an outstanding job. I have watched F1 on Speed for years and was a little worried about how NBC would do, but I ended up loving their format. I know a lot of people think Leigh Diffey is annoying, but he doesn't bother me. I also thought it was very cool that they were all on site for Monaco last year. Add to all this that NBC has Indy Car rights and their ability to cross reference on air makes it even easier for U.S. fans to get into the sport. All and all, for me, a great year. I can't wait for this season, especially with the new 1.6L turbo V6 engines.

Hopefully the competition is a little more even. Gets boring watching the same guy always win.

Yea everyone has a point about this being and epic era with all the records the Vettel is breaking, but yea gets old only watching second place. If nothing else it should be entertaining to watch everyone iron out the massive rules changes this year. I expect lots of fiery engine deaths!

Yeah, hopefully the new engines and chassis changes will mix things up a little bit.

The season opener at Melbourne is this weekend. The new engines just don't have the same sound as the old ones. That's probably the one thing I don't like.

They sound like poo compared to the old school turbo monsters.

The technology is cool and I think it is definitely cutting edge, but I wish they sounded better than they do.

It was another great and unexpected race at Montreal today! Bahrain was a good race, but this one was pretty damn good as well.

The turbo V6's of the 90's sounded good compared to the sound of this new iteration. Seems strange that they can sound so different and be the same type of engine.
