06 wrx downpipe questions?

Post by TurboGeneration »

My Co worker is giving me a 06 stock wrx downpipe, so my question is...how well do those fit a 94 legacy ss? Also I'm swapping over a TD04 with it.
Also...side note...anyone have a spare ICV I can buy off of you?

You can install it, but the 06 WRX DP isn't an upgrade to the SS one. Has the same size pipes. Plus the flange at the bottom points the midpipe more towards the ground so the exhaust hangs lower if that makes sense.

Really? Glad you told me that. So is the TD04 turbo just a clean swap with the current piping?

the only difference between the vf11 and the tdo4 is the compressor inlet. the tdo4 is clocked at 90 degrees where the vf11 is clocked at 45 degrees. other than that its the same.

Oh okay. That's not a problem. So fix my ICV and then swap the turbo over and I should be rocking. And also have a IC.

The inlet is different between the turbos as well. It requires a sillocone elbow.

You've been helpful. I'll start my turbo swap right after I find a shop to rebuild the TD04. Even though it only has 60k on it

Read thru the stickies at the top of the Turbo section. there are a could of write ups on how to do the install.

This will help you plan for what will come up and what you may need from the parts store. I say will come up, because it's a 20 year old car, you will likely break something...

Also, a heat gun on the harder rubber hoses will be your best friend.
