92 Legacy BOV

Post by Purple-Rain11 »

Im wondering if anyone has been able to put a aftermarket BOV on their ej22t legacy? Ive done a lot of google searching and haven't come up with much.... The stock one makes pretty much not a sound haha. Ive always loved the sound a bov and just wondering how hard it would be to put one on the car? The engine is 100% stock.

Also its an auto, but I still love it. Im sure it would still sound cool!

If this can be done any recommendations on what one to go with?

HI,
If you search on here you'll read that BOV's don't work well on the EJ22T. I know people still install 'em, but wonder what they give up in drivability.

It can be done very easily. As mentioned though, they arent optimal. The reason for this is that these cars measure the air prior to entering the turbo. When you let off the gas and the BOV vents, that air which was measured and had a specific amount of fuel prepared to be metered for it now is gone, and the engine goes incredibly rich for a few moments, injecting fuel to mix with air that never made it to the combustion chamber,

The biggest side efect from this according tp what ive read from others is increased lag coming back on boost after it vents, possibly a hit on fuel economy.

If you just want more sound, look at removin the intake resonator. It will flow a little better without, and give your more sounds with no restrictions.

The correct item you would be looking for is an aftermarket recirculating valve. BPV. You can find something on eBay but nothing will be a direct fit.

So no bov. Good to know! So with running an aftermarket bpv would that increase sound at all? Or am I better to just save money for a future tmic or fmic setup?

I use a fmic and a turboxs type h bypass valve. It's pretty loud. I like it.

You'll still want to remove the resonator. Adding a cone filter will make your stock bpv louder.
