so my 92 legacy had a delay from 2-3 , revved for a few seconds then grabs. so im not sure if I'd even call it slipping, more a delay. does some weird shifting from 1-2 too when cold. I adjusted the brake band ( loosened adjusted 1 full turn. Helped a little , any other suggestions? and finally I'd like to upgrade to a newer at, whats my cutoff year? I'd like to just install it, plug it in and drive it.
spoke to a subaru tech, he said to tighten it 3/4 turn, if that has no effect, tighten all the way as stated in manual, then back off 3 turns

As long as you stick with the phase 1 4EAT it should be plug & play. I don't know the year cutoff; someone else will need to chime in.

Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
The cut off on the phase 1 tranys is 98. Just watch the gear ratio as you already know.
Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
ok, so just before I pull the trigger on a 4.44 tranny and rear diff, up to 98 is good for tranny, and rear diff will require pinion flange swap, and 95-99 cv axles in the rear? hopefully my speedo will be more accurate with 225/65/16's
Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
Yeah...that all sounds correct...but unless you've got OB struts on there (even then I'm not sure) those tires likely won't fit??
The '96-99 OB had a stock 205-70-15 @ 26.3" tall (~same as the Forester's 215-60-16); the 225-65-16 is 27.5".

Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
2002 forester struts, strut top spacer, and subframe brackets. still slight clearance between tread and coil hat. slight rub when turning full lock. after the turbo and tires my tranny hates mewtdash wrote:Yeah...that all sounds correct...but unless you've got OB struts on there (even then I'm not sure) those tires likely won't fit??

Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
That 4.44 should make for a nice improvement in your off-the-line, too.

Re: 92 legacy na auto slipping
Im hoping so, it's pretty darn quick as is! but the rpm doesnt align very well with shifts, thats part of why I think The wife burned up 4th gear, and the fact I left it in b boost @16psi.wtdash wrote:That 4.44 should make for a nice improvement in your off-the-line, too.
