94 Wagon Suspension

Post by tcurra »

So i already have adjustable KYB struts and running stock springs, i want to drop my car about 1 1/2 inches. Am i better off doing the 04 sti suspension swap or just get springs for the KYB's i already have? Any help appreciated

Welcome to the BBS.

Regarding the springs, I guess it depends on whether you can find the appropriate springs or not.

Have you looked through these threads for more info about springs?

If you can find 1st gen legacy lowering springs, that would be your best bet. The newer springs can be made to work, but their spring rate and ride height won't be ideal since they are for different weight cars.

I am also interested in this. I won't necessarily need them to be lowering springs, but that would be nice and I wouldn't want to go any higher. From what I've read, I guess the rear springs are the tough ones because that's where the weight discrepancy is. I was wondering if King Springs for the raised application in a GC Impreza for the REAR and for the standard height application for the FRONT may give me what I'd want. I have a feeling that I'd end up with the rear higher than the front. That might look silly.

I've been looking for answers but it seems most people with wagons run coilovers and I'm not sure that's for me. Spirited daily driving with the potential for some autocross is what I'm looking for.

After a bit of research which was inspired solely by jamal's Blanket Suspension Recommendations in the Suspension Stickys thread (thanks!), I think KYB AGX struts or D-specs with Ground Control sleeves are the way to go for me. They seem like the perfect fit for me. I want to contact Ground Control to see what they'd recommend as far as springs go with regard to length/spring rate...this is all new to me if you couldn't tell. I've done nearly zero handling mods on previous vehicles.
