The collection grows, not sure why....

Post by PhyrraM »

Picked this up to replace my sideswiped Pure White SS.

The rough plans are to:

Swap over all the mechanical upgrades from the sideswiped '93 (4/2 pot brakes, GG STI suspension, APexi Power FC, Bosal exhaust).
Finally install and tune the 2.35 liter EJ22T stroker w/EJ20K heads.
Swap the post-facelift black interior and Canadian seatbelts.
Do something about the hackjob frontmount.
'93 Winestone SS Auto, '91 Pearl White SS.
'93 Pure White SS EJ20G slanty intercooled, SIDESWIPED! In stasis.
'94 FWD and '95 AWD Laguna Blue SVXs.

Doesn't look too shabby. Looks like it's a good project car to do the stuff you want to do to it :)

Damn, where do you find these things man? I looked far and wide around California for another Turbo Leggy and just ended up buying a bugeye WRX. Glad to see you're finally undertaking the task of a new project after the side swipe accident happened! I look forward to seeing your updates on this car... you always do good work.

Sadly, nope, nothing new.

I made the hard descion to have a car payment again so my boys and I could do the camping/offroading thing for a few more years.

I have to rebuild and install the transmission in my wifes old Mazda Tribute. then I need to sell it.

Once that is done, then I will start on the '91 SS. I'll start by returning it to fairly stock, then I will swap over most of the black interior and upgrades from the '93 that was sideswiped. Maybe it will be on the road by January.

Well, I've gone and done it again.

Still super busy with work and Boy Scouts (I'm now the Scoutmaster) so my projects have gotten only a bit of attention. But that's not going to stop me from picking up a dream car on the cheap if one crosses my path!

The details:
1994 base "L" model. FWD (boo..), No sunroof (Yeah...), No ABS (indifferent), manual seatbelts, grey trim instead of the supposed up-market fake wood. Pretty clean, drives well. Has some trim issues to sort out. Seems stock except for the horrible "marine" radio and aftermarket HIDs in the projector low beams. The main reason I settled for FWD is the grey trim and no-sunroof - both are hard to find. The bonus is that it's the lightest SVX ever made.

The Plan: Daily drive it @ 20 MPG and park the Land Rover @ 13 MPG. Slowly restore it cosmetically. Deal with any minor mechanical issues. Install a decent updated stereo. Slowly collect parts for a 6-speed AWD swap.

Yes, I have serious issues.

I haven't been as active here as I would like, but I watch the BC community on Facebook. Here are a few updates for those who care.

The SVX collection has grown. I have added a parts car for AWD swap parts and another fully loasded SVX that assumed daily driving duties. That make 3 (two running, one AWD, one FWD) all Laguna Blue.

The Legacies are all still in stasis. I do plan on getting them back on the road and into the hands of somebody that appreciates them. I will always have one for me and my sons to drive. ('91 Pearl SS, '93 Pure White and Winestone SSs)

The LR3 has now been traded in on a new daily driver. The 'newer' AWD SVX is in the back...
