Another option that isn't boring old KYBs

Post by xise »

Just figured i'd let you guys know about this seeing how kybs seem to be the only aftermarket choice for strut/spring combos unless you want to shell out allot of $$ for Konis.

Some of you may be familiar with the Euro cars like Audis and Volvos that come stock with SACHS Supertouring struts. Well they make them for the impreza and legacy as well and they give an awesome ride. I paired mine up with some 04 STi pink springs and some 91 SS rear mounts and they are nice and comfy ride wise and still give plenty of response in the corners. Lowered me quite a bit on my 93 SS when it was on the road, they are now on my 91 wagon and the ass sags a bit but the ride is still nice, need some spacers for the ass and it will be perfect again.

Just figured i'd post this up for anyone looking for an alternate to the KYBs as I love these so much, plus they were cheap....well minus the springs lol

I am curious to see how long they last. Monroe makes shocks for our cars (or they used to) and i wouldnt wish those on my enemies lol. They blow or break in half the time of kybs.

Yup....I had Monroes and they were absolute shit compared to the KYB GR2. I'm glad there's an alternative, but I'd still probably go with the KYB's since they are the tried and trued method.
