What a sight for sore eyes. Beautiful machine that 22b.
Some things I noticed that I hadn't previously in other pictures, red timing cover, wasted spark, and the clutch pedal appears to be sitting at a slight angle.

You are welcome, I'm actually glad to see someone is actually following my thread, it's tough to keep it going with the limited amount of work going into the Legacy at this time. I'm expanding into a second building now and will have a lot of work to update it to the same as my current building. When that's finished I hope to bring over the Legacy and Impreza

The timing cover and wasted spark were factory with the 22B, The pedal pads were not factory, the car was a Japan export to NZ so it's got the gauges and steering wheel and pedal pads that aren't factory. I actually just had that new wheel put on before I made my trip, the old blue sparco wheel it had was falling apart.

Engine bay is in great condition except the red manifold has the paint peeling which is common on these. I have intentions to restore the car back to like new condition in the future.

I also found my old photo album with these two photos, both cars I worked on in the early 90's

The main thing I find interesting about the 22B is the wasted spark ignition. I feel it gets a bad reputation, however that car appears to have an 8,000 rpm redline. So with some high boost and high redline I assume there's no ignition issues. I would suspect it uses the same coil & igniter setup found on the Legacies.

Anyway, just something interesting to note :)

Bikes have been using wasted spark ignition for since the 70's and they turn a lot more rpm than that and there were boosted bikes in the early 80's with that ignition setup. I would say that bad reputation has no basis in fact.

I have created a Facebook page for my business, it features many of my builds over the years. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to do a direct link, however here is what the page looks like for those that would like to follow my work on Facebook .

I've finally been doing some work on the Legacy, mainly just some details on fitting into the car so I've put the engine which is missing all the internals in the car and I'm now looking at getting some of the mounts for the intercooler finished as well as getting a pedal box in the car and master cyl and clutch cyl installed . I also need to fit steering linkage. I might have the exhaust made while it's in also.

Hi guys, I have been off
Of the Forums for a long time, mainly because of the amount of time I spend on other projects since I started my business. I have a few updates though, my Impreza 22B and Legacy type R are now here in the USA with me. I’m still working on my Legacy RS type RA project and now the 22B is sitting next to it. I hope to have more to post soon but hopefully there’s still some interest in the project

Man it was definitely very very difficult to do, I had some serious issues along the way so I’m just very relieved to have them here in the USA with me. It’s a relief but I can say I am probably still getting over the troubles that I went through, it definitely wasn’t fun !

One of the things that I have been doing with my business is heavy investing into equipment. We have custom made a lot of things which are in the photos of the gearbox stands and nitrogen bottles carts etc and then also I have been buying equipment from Breda that supply the F1 teams as well as many other series in Europe. Here's the photos of what I have as far as equipment now

I bought a 1990 Legacy base model and plan to use it as a daily driver . It’s going to be converted to a WRX drivetrain and Lots of other things planned. It’s definitely not perfect but a good base for a project car. I’ve already spent a lot of time cleaning it up

That little base model sedan looks good! Amazing what a set of wheels and some TLC will do.
