No. At this point you have eliminated any need for the ignitor.

It's as simple as 4 signal wires to the ECU , one from each coil, ground each coil( I use the coil pack mounting bolt, ground wire from plug to an eyelet matching the diameter of bolt), and a power source for each coil( use the original coil pack power wire, split 4 ways to each coil)

Quadruple check your signal wires are in the correct orientation. Double check your coil grounds. Check you've got power to each coil.

The problem ended up being a bad starter (cranked just a little too slow for combustion), and a plug that was left unplugged after tracing the wiring.

She runs!

Nice!

So what does the "twin scroll" exhaust consist of?

Are you using a twin scroll turbo?

I'm using a 4th gen JDM legacy GT setup, which consists of the twinscroll exhaust manifold, the twinscroll td04-19t turbo, and the twinscroll oil pan (same pan as 2004+ usdm STI uses) and it's specific dipstick. I purchased a legacy twinscroll down pipe flange and had that welded on to a normal down pipe.

There are 2 different flange styles for factory twinscroll on the EJ engines, legacy and STI. I didn't have that knowledge when I got this one, and was hoping to swap in a larger VF36/37 STI twinscroll turbo. But no bueno, parts aren't even close to fitting.

That setup makes 276hp at 14.7 psi on the ej20x it came from. I'm hoping for at least 300chp at 18+ psi, with no appreciable lag.

Got the sunroof working properly by reflowing the solder in the blue controller box, and lubricating the tracks. I also had the heater fan only working on speeds 1-3, turns out the nearby single fat black/yellow wire with a blue plug is what powers the fan on full blast, and that needed to be plugged in to a same color plug next to the steering column.

So far I've had almost 100% plug compatibility between my 92 SS and the 93 TW dash harness I put in. The only exceptions so far have been the auto trans and tcu plugs and the airbag wiring, as expected. I suspect the auto trans plugs would have worked if my car was auto.

I also put 212 miles on her since the rebuild. Other than leaking valve covers and a cold start issue, she is running great!

Wow. Those metal scuff plates are ultra rare. I spent a few years searching and couldn't ever find any.

Thanks, I picked them up on ebay about 7 years back. Silenc3r still has a set, perhaps he could be convinced to sell them?

Just as an update, I definitely haven't finished this build but have been driving around on weekends. Up to 450 miles on the rebuilt engine. I have to do a full drivetrain swap for a family member, and also bought a Baja that needs work.

Once those vehicles are done, I'll be back with the SS. It drives great but obviously needs an alignment, to fix the oil leak(s) and a tune so I can stop babying the engine (once I complete the breakin).

Observations on a high compression "ej22k" build with a td04-19t twinscroll - This is great! It spools so fast it's ridiculous! I've ran straight ej20 DOHC's, and a couple straight ej22ts over the years. The ej20 was (IMO) a dog off boost, but really shined above 3500 rpms. The stock ej22t had low end for days and crazy torque, but no top end. What I have build is similar to what was in the 22B impreza - it had the same heads, and a closed deck phase 2 ej22 block. They used a bigger turbo than me (the vf23, or vf22 depending which option you took). But it's obvious this combination is something special. Perhaps some day I'll go with a bigger turbo, but for now, the SS is exactly what I had in mind for this build.
