Will 95-99 doors fit a 93-94

Post by arse_sidewards »

I'm not asking if the body lines will match.

I'm not asking if the switches will work without wiring

I'm not asking if the hinges are compatible

I just wanna know if the doors open, close, latch and not leak.

A set came up for sale locally for a giveaway price and I figure that if they fit I should pick them up just in case I ever need them since 2/12 of the doors on my cars have crash damage so it's not unforeseeable that I might just put all the good doors on two cars and make one car with all the mix and matches stuff.

No, they will not fit. If the hinges even bolt up, they will not close properly. You should look around for a set of doors from 89-94

Where's the interference point? The body shell didn't change substantiall between 1st and 2nd gen.

Looking at pictures maybe the revised design around the point where the A-pillar, fender and door meet might be a problem.

Parts for these cars basically don't exist where I live and 2nd gen parts are rare so getting doors for an 89-94 is an exercise in calling a two digit-number of junkyards and having them tell me their car-part.com listings are out of date and then either paying hundreds for shipping or driving 6+hr. If even the rears would work then I am going to pick these up just to have on hand.

If you've searched everywhere and haven't found an answer, maybe nobody has tried it?

Also, aren't 90-94 doors all the same? And only the glass changed between wagon and sedan models?

Well, I'm gonna try it. Probably won't get around to installing anything until at least the summer since all my doors open and close at present. I'll take measurements after I pick them up though. Waiting on the seller to get back to me with the address.

Got the doors. Rears will definitively fit. Front needs the body line where the door sheet-metal kicks up around the mirror modified. I haven't tried to install them on anything but the physical shape of both doors is definitely correct for the door opening in a 1st gen body. They were free so I'm just gonna sit on them until I need a door.

I haven't bolted them on. Just measured. And I don't know if the windows work because they're rolled down and I didn't feel like probing around with a battery and test leads to compare.

Try and take some pictures if you can when you fit them.
