Oregon Rally Group needs volunteers

Post by Guest »

Forwarded from the oregon rally group list.. all those in the Northwest are invited to help out as stage captains for the multitude of rallies we have!
____________
---------------------------------------------------------
OREGON RALLY GROUP/OREGON REGION SCCA
NEEDS RALLY VOLUNTEERS
!!!!!!!!!!
---------------------------------------------------------

We welcome anyone that wants to give us a hand.
No experience needed. Note however that minors
(under the age of 18) and families with minors
will be asked to comply with special SCCA
waivering and volunteer assignment restrictions.

Up to 4 volunteers can form a volunteer unit to
be assigned together at a volunteer position. A
volunteer unit must designate one person as
leader of their unit.

The Oregon Rally Group/Oregon Region SCCA now
has volunteer sign-up online at our website at
www.oregonrally.com. We always have a need for
volunteers to give us a hand at all rally events.
Currently our greatest need is for volunteers to
help with SCCA Performance Rally events (ProRally
and/or ClubRally). These include the following:

** 2003 Dryad/Shitepoke SCCA ClubRallies
June 7th & 8th
Based in Shelton, WA

** 2003 Oregon Trail SCCA ProRally & ClubRally
July 12th and 13th
Based in Hillsboro, OR

** 2003 Wild West SCCA ProRally (and ClubRallies)
Sept 6th & 7th
West of Olympia, WA

** 2003 Mt Hood SCCA ClubRally
Oct 25th
Based in Hood River, OR

Note: volunteers need not commit to all days
of a multiple day event, a person can volunteer
for any day or days as they choose.

These events are one or two days of rally
cars racing on dirt or gravel roads closed
to "civilian" traffic. In the Pacific
Northwest this translates to rally cars
going flat-out on "closed" logging roads!

Performance Rally volunteer positions available:

Control Staff (timing, record keeping, & stage safety):
ATC - control rally vehicles approaching a stage
start line
Start - start rally vehicles onto a stage
Flying Finish - time rally vehicles across a stage finish line
Stop Control - control rally vehicles after finishing a stage
Road Marshals (spectator/crowd control)
Ham Radio Operators (stage coordination and safety communication nets)
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's)
Sweep Vehicles (clear a stage of off-course/disabled rally vehicles)
Registration (help register competitors for the rally)
MTC start helpers (log rally competitors onto first transit)
MTC finish helpers (log rally competitors at end of last transit)

Control staff, road marshals, registration helpers, MTC helpers require
no previous experience. Ham Radio Operators, EMTs, Sweep vehicles require
licenses or certifications and/or special equipment.

If you have a particular volunteer position you would like... the earlier
you request it, the more likely you will get that position.
