That FWD fuse, still unclear to me

I searched this topic and read some posts about it but I didn't find a definate answer to the question that I had in mind. Does putting the fuse in the FWD socket stop ALL the power to the rear wheels? ie: if I disconected the diff from the drive shaft and drove it would the the trans turn the drive shaft or would it be idle?

All power goes to just the front wheels. The rears spin freely, you could drop the driveshaft and just drive around in FWD.

But be warned, this WILL eventually damage the center diff.

the AT's don't have a center diff, it has a multi-plate clutch system, and yeah leaving the fuse in for too long can cause premature failure of the duty c solenoid.

Isn't the MPT clutch pack still considered a diff, since it distributes power between two potential outlets?

I know they call it a Center Diff on an STi, and that uses an MPT clutch pack system very similar to the Automatic's system. Subaru themselves call it a "Driver Controlled Center Diff."

I was trying to pinpoint a possible problem with my rear diff and was hoping that inserting the fuse would eliminate any interference from the transmission. Would inserting the fuse give me the same results as dropping the drive shaft?
The "problem?" I am having is that if I make a slow donut turn on a gravel parking lot the inner (slower rotating) wheel will skip traction to catch up with the rotation of the outer wheel. My other subs do not do this, not even my wagon with LSD. The car I am talking about is a 92SS, non-LSD

You wont get very far if you remove your driveshaft.

I disconected the drive shaft yesterday, just took out the four bolts by the rear diff, and drove it about 2 miles to the gravel parking lot. I drove at about 5mph so the shaft wouldn't slap around. You say I wouldn't get very far, do you mean FAR like in "a short distance" or like in "you can't move at all" or "I will ruin something if I do"? The car drove like this, does this mean something is wrong?

I thought you were removing it completely, inwhich case it would let all the fluid out of the back end. You see where I'm going.
