Anyone ever swapped WRX struts/springs? I'm having issues.

Struts, spring, anti-rollbars, braces and the like.

Anyone ever swapped WRX struts/springs? I'm having issues.

Post by syphon »

Hey all, quick question.

I bought some WRX struts and springs and put the rear ones on my car tonight. We put in the WRX strut, spring, but kept my existing tophat and everything above that.

It seems that after installing it, there was a bit of extra room at the very end of the strut (where the threads are... and that single nut) and it pops up and down a little bit.

Has anyone ever done this before? We threw another washer in there but it still does it, so we don't know exactly what's causing the problem. Anyone have any insight?

Washer must not have been thick enough. Get another one down there until it is able to hold the strut tight. Tightening with an air wrench would help, too. But you have to have access to one with a special attachment and someone that knows how to use it.

The exact same thing happened to me. I know the frustration. And I was about to drive over 500 miles to go somewhere.

I'd close this thread if I could, because I already fixed the problem. (you'll note I made another thread detailing my entire swap).

Basically, we put the washer in the incorrect spot, so the washer was doing no good. We put it ON TOP of the existing washer, when we should have put it BELOW it. We got it all working.
