Slightly off topic - I saw an ej15 in person, yes fifteen.
The factory service manual says it is the ONLY acceptable way to get both rear wheels in the air.

Bought een STI Exhaust muffler 2.5"
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/63/16329 ... 9f.jpg?v=0
and a stainless steel manifold for a non-turbo. 2"
I allready have a GT Turbo mid-pipe 2.5" So we have to weld a connection from the manifold to the mid-pipe. This will be an exhaust for optimum power of the DOHC engine

I'm going to sell my podrive look exhaust wich makes this sound !!
Cool sound

Does anyone care to see some pics of a DOHC non-turbo engine ?

hey! where did you get that weird engine?

so it's just like an EJ20G but w/o turbo? tell us how it drives now.
btw I got exactly same header, waiting for ceramic coating (some $) and someone who weld me nice exhaust pipes (more $$$).
good luck wit the car!

It's a shortblock from an Impreza 2.0 from 2001 with pistons from a Legacy 2.0R 2005 and cilinder heads from JDM Legacy 2.0 VZ from 1990 (Heads have bean overhauled in 2005)
In japan all 2.0 (non-turbo) Legacy's have 2 overhead cams (DOHC) , In europe all 2.0 are (Single OHC). This motor delivers more torque overall and the DOHC engine is much quicker above 4500 RPM.
A normal 2.0 SOHC has 116BHP
The 2.0 DOHC has around 150 BHP with a JDM 2.0 exhaust manifold. (I have a SOHC manifold so it's 140 BHP)
I'm going to mount and 2.2 (non-turbo) ECU with Knock sensor.
And together with the new exhaust the engine is able to deliver about 160 BHP at 6600 RPM (RPM MAX is 6700 for a 2.2 ECU)

Or you could have just dropped in the USDM 2.5 DOHC or SOHC motor and had an instant 165bhp w/o modding the motor.

How is the japan 2.0 n/a exhaust different from the euro 2.0 n/a one?
How do you know the bhp by different exhausts? (dyno ?)

All based on Japan specs. Copy paste,
2.2 L SOHC 135 hp (101 kW) H4
2.2 L SOHC Turbo 163 hp (122 kW)
2.0 L DOHC 150 hp (110 kW)
2.0 L DOHC GT 200 hp (150 kW)
2.0 L DOHC RS 220 hp (160 kW)
2.0 L SOHC 116 hp (87 kW)
1.8 L SOHC 102 hp (76 kW)
The Japanese use the smaller engine because of Japanese road tax legislation, which determines the tax to be paid based on engine displacement, however, the JDM engine was more powerful, even without the turbo. The JDM DOHC 2.0 liter 148 bhp (110 kW; 150 PS) non turbocharged engine had a dual stage intake manifold where at higher engine RPM's four individual valves would allow additional air flow into the engine from a secondary manifold attached and located underneath the primary intake manifold.

The Subaru guru (Marnix) who puts these engines together even had an intership at Subaru in Korea!

one piece of pipe more and voila! exhaust ready!
staying tuned for a soundcheck

I know a few things, the sound will be like a Turbo because off the unequal manifold. But i hope not so loud, the police confiscates cars that make 110DB or more. AND on tracks only 95DB is allowed in Holland and the nurburgring etc.
With this STI muffler i hope to stay under 95 DB,
