For the last few months, I have trying to learn and read up on how to monitor, and hopefully someday be able to modify a ROM for my 97 - Totally different yes, but now I'm driving a '91 Legacy (first gen seems better built to me), so, now I'm here! YaY ..anyway, I am surprised that interest in this subject has gone south so quick. People all over have been trying to alter sensor signals with resistors and pots, trying to fool the ECU for better fuel economy, more power, or to better accept hydrogen (like retarding the timing) with mixed results. Older Subaru's have tons of potential for so much.

I just purchased the cable and the chip needed. It'll be interesting to see it working once I get it

I missed this thread originally, but the main thing missing is results. Did the ECUTune help performance? Fix a problem?

can someone confirm that there is some upgrade available for a 91 2.2 ecu?

Yes, most companies that make standalone ecus have one that could be adapted to our cars.

Link, Autronic, megasquirt are a couple of names aome people use.
