I felt like changing the engine bay up a little bit!

Engine bay last year:

Image

I wanted to go for a more subtle theme, so I removed the rad shroud, and almost every yellow cap in the engine bay

Image

Then gave this stuff a shot!

Image

Here is everything mocked up, excuse the dirty engine bay!

pictures were taken with my driod, it looks mo betta' in person!

New brake setup soon to be installed!

05 Brembo rear calipers, godspeed uk brackets, godspeed uk brake shoes. 04 STi rear rotors, Hawk pads, ATE Superblue, and a Grimmspeed master cylinder brace! I am testing this for Grimmspeed to ensure fitment on first gen legacies! Thanks again Grimmspeed!

Let me know how that MC Brace works, been wanting to try it out to test the fitment myself, but not willing to throw down on something that "might" work when the budget is this tight haha.

Hey Matt, the MC brace works great! The fitment is perfect on our cars. I measured the distance between my firewall and my WRX master cylinder, and it is identical to a stock 91 SS and 93 Touring Wagon. Overall I am very happy with the quality and craftsmanship of the piece. If you are looking at doing either a MC brace or stainless lines, I would recommend doing the stainless lines first. That is where I noticed the biggest difference in brake feel. The MC brace simply compliments this setup, and improves brake pedal feel even further.

More updates!

I had some thermotec header wrap laying around so I decided to wrap the crossover pipe!

Then coated the header wrap with this:

Here is the finished product

And I decided to do the up pipe and dump tube as well :)

Hey, are you using the stock MC or the WRX one? I bought the Perrin MC brace at the BNW meet, and there is no bolt hole facing the motor as im guessing the WRX does. I had the fuel filter bolts on, but it kind of defeats the purpose since it was only supported from one direction. was the grimmspeed one a "direct bolt on"? Thanks Devan
Matt

yea I can't really tell from the pics.
This is the Perrin one:

Grimmspeed:

I haven't used the Grimmspeed one, but as you can see the Perrin has less "mounting holes".
I don't think the Perrin one would be very beneficial on our cars, but Devin said he is happy with the Grimmspeed one so I'll probably get that later

The MRT bracket appears to be similar to the Perrin one. All the holes are there on the chassis. You use some of the bolt holes that hold on the fuel filter assembly. It's kind of a tight fit, or at least it was with the MRT bracket, but it fits, and helps a little bit.

Here's the thread from this past June where you were asking about the braces. The deflection amounts I saw pre & post installation are in there.

well the perrin one I had was for a bugeye, and didn't line up with the mounting holes for my car.... I should have snapped some pics, but one of them didn't line up with any holes so it wouldn't really serve much of a benefit if at all.

Oh ok.....that's good to know. I don't recall if there was a different MRT brace between the GC & newer Impreza chassis.

that could have been it. I actually got it at a big Subaru meet over here and it was on sale. It didn't end up working on my car so I sold it to my ex, so it all worked out just fine anyways.

After driving home from the Big NW Meet at Pacific Raceways, we stopped for dinner in Portland's Industrial NW area. I had my camera, and our cars were clean, so we took some photos. Hope you enjoy... :)
