Spent most of the afternoon working on my patch harness for my car. got alot done too, but not finished.

So here's what i hacked up from my old harness

tool i made

pin removal

female ecu plug

And to start

Image

1/8th completed
Image

halfway done
Image

finished with female plug
Image

Now sometime this week or this weekend i'll be connecting the male and female plugs together then my harness will be complete

I didn't put shrink wrap on all of the pins because i figured it was a waste and i didn't have much shrink wrap to work with. so i will have to go get more. After finishing with the soldering, i put some epoxy around the pins so the wires wont move or come seperated from the plug.

Now i just have to wait for my vf39. that will be going in this weekend!

It looks like you've got a lot of goop on there, but I'd put something around them to make sure the pins don't short on anything. (Quality) electrical tape would do it, but wrap over itself starting at the connector and up the bundle to make sure it keeps everything secure and is unlikely to unravel or slip off the connector.

Well today i installed my VF39. Haven't driven it on the road yet but i went around my park to check it out enough to make sure there's no leaks anywhere.

Here's a comparison photo of a TD04 (Left) and VF39 (Right)

VF39 Installed

While i had the VF39 off, i removed my Up pipe so i could go ahead and wrap it. Bought the 1" Wide Black Awhile back w/ the sillicone black hi temp paint. This was Extremely easy..... I however chose to use Hose Clamps. I heard some bad stuff about the pansy little stainless ties they came with.

You're already this far into it, just bang it out! That ECU and patch harness cost me $600 so props to you for saving some money on it.

Re: CJ's 92 SS build... VF39 Installed!

Post by cj91legss »

So for a little while now i've been hearing some sounds under my hood like my intercooler coupler wasn't tight enough and while on boost it sounded like it was leaking a little bit... well today i got under the hood after i got home from work and checked out my clamps, replaced some of them, opened up my piping to clean it off a little, and what do you know, the WHOLE inside of my IC piping is covered with oil. I've also been wondering where my oil was going too, have to add some pretty often, and now i know where it's going. And i don't have any leaks.

Just f*cking great right?

Well, i didn't have this problem before i swapped my TD04 out with this VF39 i bought off here. So now im pissed because I installed a turbo that i didn't know needed rebuilt. I'm looking at the VF39 rebuild kits on ebay, anyone on here ever ordered/installed one of them successfully?

Then to top it off, for some reason im getting way over my boost limit. Got on it today and i pegged my boost gauge (It maxes at 20 psi) which was also another reason why i got under the hood today. Checked all my VAC lines and everything was connected... WTF i thought for sure that the wastegate line would have blown off, but nope. So i started looking at my MBC, i've had problems with this thing quite often, bought it from jake for 40 bucks, even he said it had problems, but it worked for what i wanted at the time (He said he had problems with it abouve 15lbs or so) and at the time i was only running 10. Now im almost at 20 and i hate this thing. The set screw looses tension after a couple full turns. So im gonna look into getting the rest of my Tru Boost together so i can install that, then never have to worry about over-boosting again.

Do you have an oil catch can?? If not get one. I bet you have oil blow by an not your vf39's fault. Also vf39's Cannot be rebuilt, you would have to buy a new center section.

I'm scared. There's got to be a reason it's hitting fuel cut. That and the 20 knock lights I see while it's warming up. The fuel cut is not supposed to happen until 18lbs of boost but it happens as low as 13 and sometimes not until 15 which is where the MBC is set.

Today i installed my AEM Tru Boost Gauge, i don't have the boost control solenoid yet but it's hooked up to read vac-boost now. it's a pretty badass gauge too, and it's fairly acurate. my manual boost gauge read 17lbs max and this read 17 as well and the negative numbers were the same too so woohoo!

Definately wanna get the wideband to match this

I know it's been awhile since i posted in here but i haven't done too much.

I however received the rest of my AEM tru boost today so i will be installing the rest this weekend hopefully.

Also posted my project on nasioc some and the few that responded to my posting had very good wors to say about it, which i liked alot. apparently im supposed to be putting down more than 200hp which is awesome. Now it's really time for a dyno.
