Crap, man. I just got this game last week and I've got 4 cars :)

Started with a Legacy turbo, of course.

...And I thought GT3 was bad-ass...

(and GT2 before it...)
(and GT1 before it...)
(and before that, I never even thought of modifying my real car)

I think GT3 is absolute garbage. I was willing to put up with it when I got it, but in retrospect it's definitely the worst GT. There's like 4 cars in it, you can finish it in a week if you really try, the driving dynamics are all wrong...

I rank all 4 of them in this order, first being best: 4 - 2 - 1 - 3

GT3 > crap (I had to defend it, they had a lot of significant improvements -- that almost made up for them removing all the muscle cars)

But yeah I enjoyed GT1 and 2 more than 3, although I played games a bit more back then too. I work more now.

Forza?

I definately like the addition of trucks and nitrous to GT4... and the gas/brake gauges during play? Genius.

I have yet to play Forza. I've read a lot of reviews though, and it seems the only really big difference from GT4 is that you can rice out your exterior to the max

Ah. I'll probably pass then. I got into Tokyo Xtreme Racer 1 and 2 when they were on Dreamcast (R.I.P.) - but that was in between GT's :) I didn't like how the focus was on the car's appearance and everything else was a very basic "power" or "body" upgrade. So different from the vast detail found in the GT series. But the whole concept of a mode where you can drive on city or highway roads and challenge other random drivers to race for money or pink slips.... that should totally be combined with GT. It's finally an online game, too, although I haven't seen or experienced any of the online play. A persistent system of roads online where players can meet and race while having to dodge normal traffic and other racers would be pretty sweet.

I'd also like to see less 3D restriction as far as where you can drive the car. You should be able to drive way off-course in some areas in the GT games and you hit an invisible wall. And when you've launched yourself high enough to get over the edge when racing in the mountains, you should be able to get past that invisible wall and roll down the mountain and crash or something. Optional car damage would be a neat addition, too. Where the aerodymanics of the car are directly affected by shape changes from accidents...

And why can you ride tires until they're cherry red and you never have a blowout no matter how long you race on 'em?

I also like that GT4 allows you to simply purchase a front and rear spoiler for adjustable downforce, instead of having to find a race car or one with the modification available. Unfortunately, I see no rear wings that are aesthetically pleasing, so I still haven't purchased a set. Does more selection unlock as the game progresses?

Not that I've seen. So far all the wings are very similiar and ugly too.

Forza also has body damage, REALISTIC physics (its really amazing how much better it is) more tracks, a better classing system, better analog controls, better graphics, and more that i can't think of because thinking about forza got me all giddy.

Seriously, i've put 10 hours into my game of gt4 and been struggling to enjoy it from the beginning, and forza i can't stop thinking about.

My old roommate bought gt4 and then returned it after buying forza.

Hey, look, it's the GT4 Skyline Pace Car.

This must be a license test.

Wait... where's the test car?

Holy shit! There is no test car!! I'm driving the Pace Car myself!

You're doing 300 without the timer starting? Or is it cause it's black?

On a GT4 related note, I tried to use my wheel the other day, and the power supply slowly died as I drove. It gave some interesting force feedback, but now it won't work at all. :x

4-2-1-3 definatly.
After doing alot of work, 5 or so months worth, I bought the $9.00 cheat CD for all the $$. I love just screwin around in teh game now. It is very relaxing to go take out a highly modded DMC and beat up on GT3 cars. :-D
My first car was a Skyline from the GT3 cash, followed by a GNX.

I did the Track day, so the timer didn't start until the second lap.

That's my Nissan R92CP with Stage 4 turbo, NOS, and a really stretched-out 5th gear

Logitech agreed to send me another wheel even though mine was 3 weeks out of warranty. Hooray!
Here are some shots from when it worked:
