Guess I'll have to end up going standalone :\

my friend and i are trying to see what the greddy emanage ultimate will do. so ther is that option as well

I had my final draw today. The PP had been running fine for a month or so....probably could look back through this thread to see when....but today, on my way home from the airport, it was acting up again.

I'm tired of this shit. I'm through with the PP! It's getting removed. I will verify all the wiring with a multi-meter to make sure it's good, as well as the harness I'm using to splice everything into the ECU. But assuming I find everything fine, (which I suspect I will) the perfect power 6 is done.

I will start looking for other engine management solutions after i take my PE exam.

sorry to hear that Josh, but its better to get everything right. Its tough though, I would feel bad trying to sell it to someone, but I need to recoupe the costs. In 2 more paychecks I think I will get the emanage ultimate.

I think the PP6 seems to be working ok for the OBD2 cars. While they may not be as effective, I haven't heard of people having the issues that those of us with OBD1 have.

Well today I tried using the MAF signal instead of the TPS for the main deflection scale. I got it to run and drive fine....off boost. Then when on boost I got the same bucking/hesitation. Fuck.

The next step I am going to try is moving the MAF to be POST supercharger.

Brydon at Rallitek is futzing with his monster using a SMT6 as well and having tuning issues as well. But then again, he has a crazy ass setup just like a bunch of us, so who knows what his problems are being caused by..

Yeah....while the SMT 6 in theory looks alright.....it doesn't appear to be very good at actually working though.

that's how I run mine. I'm on the hitachi NA engine management too. My setup is still largely untunned (just finnished putting the new turbo on Sunday, still need to finnish the new IC pipes) I've never had the bucking you guys are talking about. I use a Bosch MAP sensor for deflection, but if I didn't have that, I'd use the MAF. TPS just doesn't work well, it doesn't relate to the air entering the engine, so you can't tune off it.

Yeah, for boosted engines, you can't use the TPS....

Sold it!!!! its gone. This much closer to the Hydra!!

My update as well.

I DONT have any bucking or hesitation anymore. Ever. I think it had to do with air coming in that wasnt being metered by the MAF. It wasnt much, but enough to trigger a CEL. No Cel, no buck.

Here's my update.

Removed the PP, no longer in the car....no issues.

Stock ECU.....I really haven't done any modifications yet that require the need for aftermarket enginement....yet.....

It's a work in progress lol. I finally replaced the broken wastegate today and the car is doing way better. Getting a check engine light though but i suspect it might be the 85 octane in the tank.

Halloween deceaced thread resurection  !

Is anyone currently running the pp6? And if so are you having the bucking/hesitation problems?

I ask because my next upgrade will most likely be engine management, and up until reading this thread the perfectpower looked like a good option.

I have no memory of why/when I became happy with the PP6, buts probably internet documented, but.....

I am 100% happy with the PP6. I am making 340 whp plus on a 100whp 1990 ECU with it.... And getting 25 mpg on the freeway.

It does work. But there obviously can be weird issues. But the issues tend NOT to be the PP6, but stuff that effects the PP6

It's funny because I was looking for some info on the pressure sensor that I found when I was testing the PP6. But rallitekforums are no longer around.

My issues, or at least some of them were attributed to the harness I was using. I do plan to fix it, and give it another go. We'll see.

My SDS has worked well for 2 years now.

It came with a 1 bar map and for Spring will install the 1.5 bar and dial it from 14 boost to 16.

:-D

Wow so I was looking at getting the PP6 but after reading about people's experiences I don't know.

Anybody else have input?
I haven't heard anything bad about Greddy E-manage yet.
Apexi SAFC just modified the MAF signal and doesn't really do much for timing or anything else.
There's the PowerFC but that's like $1,000 so you might as well go standalone at that point.
Megasquirt doesn't seem to have ANY support for Subaru's and the only guys that run it are using trigger wheels off of the crank pulley which is kind of ghetto IMO. Stock CKP ftw. Wow that sounded geeky...

Actually, they now have the code to run Magasquirt off the factory triggers. Don't know much more than that, but there are a few threads on Nasioc or RS25.com that should get you started.

I'll have to check that out. The last time I looked at it was 6 months ago and at that time it hadn't changed much since I built my first Megasquirt ECU in 2006. Their on the same version of hardware!

So, i had to order a MAP sensor. I got the GM 3 BAR in the mail today, and installed it. NEW ISSUE!!! After putting on a basemap, my car now only runs for about 5 seconds, then dies. The PP6 is telling me that as soon as i start my car, the deflection instantly goes to 96.1%. It is as if the deflection is backwards, as at about 600 RPM, i believe i should have a deflection value of about 2.8%. Does anyone have any advice?

Is this the analog deflection you're talking about? If so, did you calibrate it? You'll need to set your range for that MAP sensor (assuming you're using it for analog deflection).
