Ok, so i got alot of plans with this thing this weekend.

I wanna get my FCD Wired in after i get florin's tested (made a change to it)
Get my Mac 3 Port boost control solenoid installed to finish my AEM Tru Boost Guage
Take 1-2 coils off my front springs
Clean up my Yakima Towers & cross bars.

FCD.

I believe i put the capacitor on backwards, which is why it exploded after my test run. It's still functional as a FCD but why sell a fcd with a bad part right? So So i put a new CAP in the Opposite way, now i have to hook it up and test it. If that works (Which it should) i'll get back in the game of making these little bad boys.

Mac 3 Port

Since my dad was so thoughtful of saving a half a spindle of 22 Gauge Shielded wire, I have been putting it to use... And it has treated me GREAT!!!! Ive redone alot of my sensor wires with it. So i thought i still have ALOT left, I'm using it for my 3 Port Boost Controller.

I love to solder, and i think shrink wrap is the next best thing to sliced bread... So for those of you that don't know much about soldering, here's what you can call a small little write up.

If you're using shrink wrap, ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR SHRINK WRAP ON THE WIRES BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!

Expose about 1/2"-3/4" of each end of wire you're going to make a connection and fray them out.
Image
Join frayed ends together like so
Image
twist them together
Image

Now since i don't have a stand for my soldering iron i couldn't take pics and solder so place your iron under yor wire, weighing the wire down with something helps (Setting something on top of the wire about 4-6 inches away from your connection so you can actually apply a little bit of pressure to the wire. after a few seconds the wire will get warm enough to apply solder. just rub the solder back and forth a few times along the wire and you're done there.

Soldered connections
Image

Slide shrink wrap over your connections, heat them up with a lighter
Image

Now since some of my wire i used was shielded, i wanted to make sure it still looked nice, so i chose to double wrap the connections but with a much larger piece of wrap. I replaced the foil on the wires, pulled the rubber coating back over it, slid my larger piece of wrap over the connections and the cut end of outer layer, and heated up the shrink wrap.
Image
And there it is! Finished product ready to be installed.
Image

Now im going to go clean my yakima towers

Nice job Chris. thanks for the soldering writeup too. I ALWAYS forget about the shrink wrap too. Then I'm like, "better get the electrical tape". lol

I've forgotten the shrink wrap a bunch of times but I just swear a bunch and redo it. Too anal to resort to the electrical tape.

Oh, now you guys got me started on shrink wrap... I have forgotten about it so many times. It really pisses me off, but i don't go back and re-do it. i just grab my bottle of liquid electrical tape. That stuff works great too.

I shrink, wrap, loom, and wrap. I even seal loom if I need to with butyl and wrap the opening.

Well, in 2006 i pwnt a dodge durango.......

I messed up the front clip pretty bad and damaged the frame rails. Anyways after that i just drove it around forever then i did my turbo swap and got a whole front clip and just made everything work.

sheet metal screws work wonders for holding a new core support on. and to top it off, having a removable coresupport made motor swaps EASY AS HELL!!!

I know how you feel. The last month has been non-stop working on other people's vehicles. Tomorrow I have to pack up all my tools and drive to my sister's house and replace the water pump on my old legacy wagon. I'm in the middle of a huge project with my girlfriend's car too and that needs to be done yesterday. I also have my own car to work on before WCSS and time is running out. It's seriously to the point where all I do is wake up, work on someone's car til I have to go to work, come home and sleep and wake up and do it all over again. Unless of course, it's my day off then it's just work on their car all day.

Because the box was checked "Disable BBCode". I unchecked it.

I'm not sure why, but sometimes the board has a hiccup and it seems like it does this. You should be able to edit your post and simply uncheck that box.

I finished my exhaust today!!! 3" TBE welded down to a Stock 06 WRX muffler. No more Defective Exhaust tickets for me.

Anyways, i have only welded 3-4 times in the last year or 2 so im not that great at welding. I do have a few pin hole leaks but i will take care of those later on down the road.

Also used the last of my header wrap tape today on my downpipe.

How do you like that suspension? Were you on stock suspension before? I'm on blown WRX struts with Perrin Springs, just ordered some BNIB AGXs though on ebay so I bounced on them, not quite sure what to expect though

Actually, i love the STI Reds.... before i was on 02-03 wrx struts and springs that i bought from kimo. I did NOT like those. They rose the front of my car, and the rear would rub while taking a corner mildly aggressive. with the reds, ride height is level between front and back and the rears don't rub. Also the ride is very stiff and feels extremely solid.

Also to add, the downside of the STI suspension, is you often get the evil clunk sound, which means taking them apart and re packing them with grease...

But while you're in there, you can install a grease fitting and skip the disassembly process if (when) it starts clunking again.
