You may want to look at my p-steering rebuild thread. A new bearing is CHEAP.

You don't have to buy reconditioner for the headlights. You can polish them with almost anything after wet sanding them. I used 600, then 1500, then plastic polish, but I've heard of people even polishing with toothpaste.

Yeah i would rather drive this car while I get to replace just the bearing, I did that on my 240 and it cost like $16. I don't even need t rebuild the pump, the bearing is with the pulley I just need to pull the pulley and then the bearing...should be easy, just the RS is my only car so if it shits out on me i'll have to do the whole pump, unless you know the exact bearing I need for an 04 RS...

or does the rebuild kit come with the bearing too?

My igniter is relocated to the bolt that you have the red wire coming from on the side of that bracket. Held on by one bolt. No issues.

Yeah I figured I could probably stick it anywhere, I haven't really looked to even see how much slack it actually has.

Thanks good to know, I bet I could probably just use baking soda and water then...i'll give it a go with some 1600 grit and that stuff

The only thing is that the yellowing will be back. Like Arnold. The UV blockers have been used up. But at least it's easy to polish.

The shaft with bearing has to be tapped out of the p-steering housing. Then the bearing needs to be pressed off the shaft. I just used a pipe and hammer, and then used a deep socket to get the new one on.

I don't know the exact bearing, but you may be able to look closely and try and find the bearing part #.

yeah i played the find the bearing game on my last car, that 240sx.....was a major pain to hunt down. I might just end up going the lazy route and grab a reman...it's all about time haha

I don't recommend reman units from the autoparts store. They just aren't good. Based on my latest issue with finding a replacement radiator for my impreza...it just adds to my dislike of autoparts store parts.

I usually go to rockauto.com so I can choose a good quality brand, and a NEW unit....but sometimes you need it RIGHT NOW and have to get a reman...hopefully I will be able to get a decent one.

Everything is up in the air ATM, if the PS pump takes a shit on me I can either switch the RS battery over to the legacy and get a rebuild kit and bearing, I just haven't broken in the new rotors on the legacy b/c I am not sure how great the calipers are, it was making all sorts of rotational scraping noise bringing it home from the garage down the street so it could be the calipers clenching, wheel bearings, the dust shield scraping the rotors...I dunno...plus to switch it over I still need to get it registered....major PITA!!! So worst case scenario it needs all new calipers, which it probably does, the pistons up front were rusty and a bitch to compress to get the them over the pads....that's about $240 before I send in the cores....it's always something...unless I just take the entire brake system off the RS lol...I'd rather NOT do that thought haha.

I am sure you saw how old and crusty the brake system was when i did the rotors/pads....you just have to remember I need to put my daughter in this car so it has to be safe!

if it is broken or corroded i'd say replace it, it was causing my transmission circuit to not remain grounded. You can never have too many grounds :)

Finally got a battery Thanks to a local on RS25.com, helped him get his gas tank up for his RSTi swap he is doing and he gave me a battery...not too shabby.

I still need the calipers and an abs sensor for the driver's front....looks like this one got cut somehow...not sure if it can be soldered yet.

The ABS light is from the wheel speed sensor wire being cut...looks like someone snipped it, nice clean cut. Right now it won't start, I am getting code 35 for the evap solenoid, and I could smell some gas...not sure how it would have gotten flooded or maybe because it is on a hill and the tank is low it doesn't have any fuel pressure...OR the battery might just be too weak to get the fuel pump going....

Either way I just haven't had the time to look it over really good, I'll take a good look this weekend hopefully i'll be bringing it into school to do the calipers and flush the fluid.

Just looked at the wiring diagram for the starter circuit, for the AT the only thing that could prevent the starter from getting power is the Inhibitor switch. Now I know the connector for this is on the trans..but is there also a relay for this that might be in the main fuse box under the hood?

No relay in the fuse box. You could try jumpering it at the B15 connector just to see if it'll start. If you do, just make sure you use large enough diameter wire.

i'll check for starter voltage before I go ghetto and hot-wire it right off the batter....although that would def get it to start and rule out the starter as the culprit...well sort of lol.

Got this beast started yesterday, turns out it was just the shitty Valucrap battery.....started to take a video but my ADD kicked in and well...you can just watch it lol.

Thanks to Mykul for the battery, if it weren't for him I never would have taken the time to swap my RS' battery into it and get it running for a little while...

So yeah, I got a bit of smoke from oil seepage, the thing sat for a long time while I did body work so, really with leaky gaskets it should have been A LOT more smoke from oil seepage so I guess they aren'y leaking too badly. Either way all I need are a few things like brake calipers, I am sure new ebrake hardware is in order also so I'll be getting that too.
