I would agree with that. I'm sure if someone did something off-the-wall, you might be able to get more, but that is most likely going to be an outlier.

I thought I mentioned it, but apparently I didn't. On that dyno a stock STi puts down 250/250 awhp & ft-lbs of torque. So I used that as a reference to compare my numbers to since the stock STi is rated at 300/300 chp & ft-lbs.

Hey rob, I'm a good friend of logan9691 and I want an ECU, just thought I would post here. Sent a you a PM too. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Can I just purchase the chip with the tune, since my ecu will have a socket allready.

Shoot me an email and we can work it out.

Hmmm, I just picked this up.... i wasn't sure exactly whom it originated from but now i read this whole thread fully, i'm not thinking its from you Rob.

would you be interested in it? would it help your cause? (i emailed you a pic as well, before i read this entire thread) Sadly i do not have much information about it. other than it runs ROUGH on an EJ20G

would it ever be possible to run a newer style MAF sensor with this ECU?

ever? hmm, that is a long time :) Which MAF and why? My current upgrade plan is a Z32 MAF.

It'd be nice to be able to run a new style MAF since they make blow through tubes for it and would allow us to run VTA BOV. Or to find a way to mount the current style MAF (i.e. JECS) in a different spot.

What are the advantages to running the Z32 MAF?

The ability to measure A LOT more mass flow.

I see. What about upgrading the MAP sensor to run more boost?

The air sensor currently being used can't read over about 18 PSI so you're bottlenecked for fuel right there.

Yeah I know, but they make upgraded MAPs to read more boost.

The MAP and MAF sensors serve two different purposes. The MAF measures mass air flow into the engine. This is the basis for all engine "load" calculations and fuel calculations. The MAP is basically used for boost control and atmospheric adjustments.

Right. So what map sensor would be use if we wanted to go over the 18 psi level?

Typically for my 550 tune I remove the boost cut altogether so the MAP sensor's limit is not an issue. Granted, it isn't an ideal solution, but it gets the job done.

Does mine still have boost cut, when i go over 18psi it'll cut out.

Yes, yours does because you specifically asked for it :D

gotcha. so would you be able to make it so we could run a different MAP sensor with the Z32 MAF so more boost could be run and still have the safety feature of boost cut?

Since we're talking about the z32 MAF, is there any glimmer on the horizon Rob? I know you've been working on it a long time. I've already scored one off an infiniti j30 just in case. lol

Oh, I see what you are getting at. Yes, I have spent a little time working that out. I have the code to adapt the EJ20K MAP sensor, but have not tested it. In theory I could adapt any MAP sensor if I figured out the volts to PSI transfer function and converted that into ECU speak.

Yeah, maybe a glimmer :) It all comes down to testingtestingtesting until I feel comfortable putting it in the wild.

I was told you are the one to talk to about ECU tuning. I have a 93 legacy SS. Was a EJ22t stock. Then got swapped to JDM V1 STi engine, same ecu. Now I am putting in a VER 3. Specs- MGF date 02/07 EJ20k Type RA/STI 4.44 DCCD tranny. Ready to move on this right now. Engine is on its way and I would like to send my ECU to you if you can work it. Let me know, thanks.
