That link is for a snorkus that is quite different from your car. It doesn't come back in the engine bay to suck in air first of all.

Yes I'm noticing that link's got some photos that don't match up. What kinda snorkus is in my fender?

I say just crack her open and dig it out. Once you see it you'll get the idea of what's going on.

Yeah, thats what I was planning to do - its just that it was nice to think that I had instructions and photos from someone else that had done it. I'll figure it out. I still need to jack up the front passenger side to access it though, right?

Yeah you've still got to get the front passenger side up, and remove the wheel, itll make things easier. Then remove the cover and the two bolts on the snorkus in that picture(the one by the air box and the lower one) are the bolts you need to remove, then slide out the snorkus. You have to remove the air filter box but not all those other tubes and hoses and stuff

Got it, my snorkus has been ripped apart and only part of it re-installed. I also cut out a small hole on the passenger side foglight hole for easier access to cold air. My snorkus was just two bolts, and then one tube from the airbox to a resonator, and then a tube from the resonator straight up towards the top of the fender cavity. Ridiculous setup if you ask me. I removed the resonator and left the tubes (which are connected together by a hard piece of plastic in the middle... no reason to destroy anything when it will work with just the resonator portion removed)
I took pictures with my digital camera, as soon as I get a chance I'll post some photos up.
So I've modified the snorkus, and put a K&N drop-in filter. I'd say my next mod would move up the intake a bit more and replace that secondary resonator cavity with one of those sharp Subaru mugs that fit there... are those being sold yet?

Notice a difference in sound/performance?

Seems to be a bit more responsive, definately a happier intake path overall. Increased volume of turbo spool noise is also a plus. Photos:

(...fresh air)
This has got to be the most confusing collection of intake/vaccuum tubing I've ever seen. Many, many fittings going to many, many places. I understand we have a recirculating BOV - is that this little piece usually mounted under the throttle body?
If so, how the hell do I replace it with this?
