I had a 98 Forester S and can say it was a pretty nice car. I liked all the little compartments in it. It handled good, did really good in the winter conditions but was very under powered 
The new Forester turbo would probably be pretty cool. Did I mention we traded in my wifes 91 Eddy Bauer edition Explorer for it 
All though we just traded the Forester in on a Tahoe recently because my family couldn't all fit in it
