how much could i get a short block for it for ?

i heard the jdm sti heads would bolt right up.

I've seen rebuilt short blocks at Primitive Enterprises R.R. for $999 US. Rebuilt long blocks with race rods for $2099 US. but I think they're sold out. Contact them though and they may be able to help you out. I know someone who is going to part out a 91 red 5mt legacy turbo at the end of sept. The cars very rusty and has over 200K miles on the engine but I'm sure he would let the engine go cheap. Might be a good rebuild project.

hrmm eventually i guess i'll be rebuilding this thing, but for now i'll be sticking to the small mods, cause i don't have tones of experience.

### Update about my ride ###

I did finally fixed the knock sensor correctly and try my intercooler setting with potentiel good timing with the knock sensor plugged right. I first did a test at 10 psi. Felt alright. No timing correction at all. Pulled ok. It did a test at 13 psi. Wow!!! No timing correction as well!! Pulled a lot harder!!! And I tried that thing at 15 psi!!!! Woahhh!! It pulls like hell!!! I couldn't feel timimg correction...

Seems like without intercooler, that engine is not meant to go higher than 9 psi. Before the saab setup, higher then 9 psi felt like crap...But now!!! WoW!!!

I did a G-tech test at 12 psi(not realy accurate...just to see!!!). I have to tell you that my clutch is dying...So I couldn't launch...Just let the clutch go at about 2500RPM..slipping a bit...I ran 14.9@95MPH Not bad for a sunday morning old man launch!!! I'm sur at 15 psi and with a good clutch I could get low 14s.

So for those who say saab intercoolers are not worth it...it does just fine for me!!!

How did you fix your knock sensor? Did you have the usual over-sensative sensor problem?

I tought I had a problem...but seems like it was a too much boost problem!! I did unplugged the knock sensor for a while to see if it could be better...I ran a couple of months without the knock on...I know...pretty dumb idea...but I had no timing correction at the time and no pinging signs as well...Later, I installed the intercooler and forgot about the knock...oups!! So this weekend I plugged it back...it now feels so much better!!!
Over 9 psi, the ECU pulled the timing a bit cause it was probably doing weird stuff inside...I tought the knock was wrong(its old)...but it wasnt...now the timing is perfect with a lot of boost!!!

So be aware the stock setting is not meant to go over 8-9 psi...

whenever you unplug the knock sensor, you're going to get a base timing. Unless you're just unscrewing it from the block and insulating it.

I would not do that, you really want to relocate the tank, get a metal WRX unit while your at it. TRUST me, I ended up busting off all my nipples in a test run and blew all the coolant out all over the windscreen and engine bay (much to the enjoyment of the WRX beside me). I paid $20 shipped for a metal tank and it is so worth it to not have to worry about overheating, pushing the car home, and burping that PITA turbo coolant system.

Troll the classifieds on NASIOC and or send BlackBart a PM and see what he can do. I got mine off of NASIOC from a guy who was parting out a junker. He did not care what I paid for it.
