Yea, but on our cars, we call it "speed-tape"

reduces wind resistance from the chrome, right?
just like how vinyl body graphics reduce wind resistance on the paint of the car?

Not quite. Around here people at least have the common sense to use pinstriping. Its a lot thinner, darker, and glossier than electrical tape.

Exactly Laurel.
Chrome has what I like to call, the Bling effect.
Air slows down around chrome to stop, look at the shininess, and check its hair in the reflection. Covering this strip makes the air move faster to get to the next car that might have chrome.
All of this adds up to faster flow of air around the car.

Woot, Speed tape installed.
The Stuff I used was called trim tape as well, a 6M roll was enough to do all but one piece on the back.
I'm torn on the looks of the tail lights with the black, can I get some opinions please.

Oh, I also painted my grille black and was too lazy to move the photos..

I think it looks good. The only sticking point for me is that the trim is a slightly different black than the plastic around it. Some armor all or something could probably fix that.

The blacked out trim looks really good. Amazingly good actually.

Quickdrive - How did you cut it? Did you cut the whole roll in half? What'd you do? Looks good.

I measured strips for the sides and cut them in half.
then the bumpers I did the same thing, it was a PITA trying to cut evenly for that long a period. like 10 feet or so....
I find it makes the car look 100% better.
The 2nd coat of paint goes on the spare door handles tomorrow and I should be installing those on the weekend to be completely dechromed.

Thats the shit. Your car looks REALLY nice.
I so wanted a white car, IMO paint the wheels black, drop it an inch, and she'll be wicked.
I pried at corners to see it the chrome strips would come off easilly, but they dont. Paint will always come off, but I never thought about black tape.
Good Idea dagsy, thanks.
Yet another reason why this forum rocks.

i like how it really stands out against the white.
make the white seem more white. i love the alpine white. i have arctic white. it is so blah.

I'll sell you some chrome ones that you can sand and paint after I put my color coded ones in.
Is that a real WRX Scoop or one of those Ebay Jobs?
Edit: BTW, Nice lookin ride.

Nice looking cars guys.
Rallitektech- Or if you don't want to bother with paint just try to find a wrecked black turbo Legacy and get the handles off it. It'd probably be easier to repaint yours or pick up a N/A set like quick's and paint them though .

Mine are a Turbo set.. Chrome like his, but will already out of the car which is the 1/2 the battle

Strange, I thought only the N/A's had the chrome handles. I thought all the turbo's had painted ones.

Not the 91's we got stuck with bling.

its actually not a turbo/na thing. It was an option, I forget what trims had it for all the years but I know 90 LS's got body matched handles

I've only seen 91 turbos with nasty chrome handles, whereas i've never seen a 92-94 turbo with chrome handles. Which leads me to believe the after 92 all turbos had body colored handles. Body colored mirrors on the other hand I think was an option for every legacy right up untill 94

Oh, wow! That things Phat.

Does that fit and bolt right into the existing hole in the hood? I already have a MY02 WRX scoop waiting to go in but I'm apprehensive about cutting the hood. What kinda price would we be looking at?

What he said.
Although, Matt, I think he cut his existing hoodscoop to make that one from the pics...

Ya, but if he's going to make a mold and sell them then we won't have to, right?

I suppose that's true.
But remember if he molds his it'll be made to fit a 91.
The 92+ are different apparently.
