The interval here is listed as 60k miles and the newer ones are 90k, but I don't know if they did anything different or just raised the recommended interval for marketing purposes as the belts are well capable of over 60.

The story from Subaru is that they did change the belt type.
California regs require a longer service interval for whatever reason, so at first Subaru put stronger belts on California-spec cars than Federal/Canada-spec cars. Somewhere along the line they just started using the California-spec belts on all the cars. I think they switched on EJ25s before EJ22s.
But, yeah, Steve, all of them are engineered with a huge safety margin and could probably go twice the specified interval without problems.

I suspect that manufacturing one belt for all cars is cheaper for the company.
So how long does it take to change the belt and the "rolls", "small wheels" (don´t know what they are called in english) and should I change anything else when I´m already in there? Maybe the waterpump?

i believe you're looking for pulley. least the smooth ones are pulleys, the ones with teeth are sprockets. anyway, I'd set aside at least 4-6 hours, it probably wouldnt take that long but it's good to have extra time to take things slow. I'd say yes to the wawa pump, and thermostat too so you dont have to drain again. Dunoo what else maybe oil pump or the ring in there or something. This is all assuming it's been a while since they were replaced

It took only 56k miles for the timing belt on my WRX to scretch enough to throw off the timing. A better belt is a VERY good idea if your car is making more power.
The STi timing belt is made by power enterprises...so to save some cash you can buy the one labeled as a power enterprises part. I know Nino's Auto Accessories was selling them. You can reach Nino at:

Ehm.. you don´t have a url or so, calling him would cost me as much as a new belt.
