What's a flex joint?

Wow, looks almost identical to the exhaust I had custom made for less than half the price =)

FYI

CES builds it's systems w/o any flex joints, and they've been doing so for many years (on Liberty,WRX and STI's in Australia) without issue. Some people feel strongly that flex joints (after the cross member) are needed (maybe to allow for poor alignment?). Though it (the flex joint) will de-couple the rear section from the Downpipe (flex joints are generally braided metal hose), they do add cost, and they can become a point of failure, themselves.

One thing for certain, if your motor or tranny mounts are not up to snuff, then the lack of a flex joint could make for a noisy system (read as ... lots of hits on cross pieces).

Thanks for the info. That makes me feel a lot better, but I wasn't too worried to begin with :)
