Could these HIR bulbs fit a Hella 90mm housing?

I know I keep defending the pre-facelift headlights, but I plan on doing one of these conversions when I have the money to experiment with putting them behind clear stock covers. I think it would be easier to fit in the larger older housings, plus I don't like the bumper on the later models unless it's the turbo, but that's beside the point.

Well, even indoors, color temperature is an aesthetic concern, not a functional one.

As far as I know, the 9011 and 9012 are the only automotive HIR bulbs out there. Hella's 90mm units don't fit either of them.

The Hella 90mm lights do come in H9 (another extremely efficient halogen bulb) and HID form. The ones I'm selling are H9s and they are super. It's worth noting that in Europe the only types of headlights required to have automatic leveling systems are those with H9s, HIRs, or HIDs.

Oh wait, I misspoke earlier! H9 bulbs actually do have a higher luminous flux than 9012 bulbs. H9 bulbs are a higher wattage, though; the 9011 has the same wattage as the H9 and produces more light. So the two brightest standard-wattage halogen bulbs out there are the H9 and 9011.

So, yeah, Steve, you have two other good high-flux options with Hella 90mm lights even though they aren't HIR.

How about using the HIRs in a projector-type lens?

If you can find a headlamp that takes a 9005 or 9006 bulb and has a good beam pattern, then an 9011 or 9012 HIR bulb is a good upgrade, whether the headlamp uses a parabolic reflector, a freeform reflector, a projector, or whatever.

The color temp effects color reproduction, so yeah, it's aesthetic, but something that's more important than with driving where you're not trying to use the light to sell or display something.
