Jeez, biased much Steve? I've got no problems with MB, I like a lot of the cars, reguardless of whether they engine share.

Hardy - It's all a matter of scooting. If you can pitch the car into a turn just right, you'll be solid. All my Big cars push through turns if I try to drive them like the smaller cars. But if you early apex and get on the gas early, you can get the back end out enough to slide you sideways right into the straight after the turns. I like to get the nose of the car facing the next straight right before the end of the turn so there's no correction involved just keep going straight. In an underpowered car, it'd be the slowest way to make a turn, but when you are in a 5000 pound, 800 horsepower, RWD car, you've got the momentum to get you through faster than if you tried to approach the turn correctly.

I dunno I've never really cared for bmw's or mercedes. They never really intrigued me. And quite honestly I still don't understand what the big deal with them is. Some people will say, the build quality this, and that. To them I ask, what percentage of those cars are still in great condition after 200k miles. Sure they're supposed to be synonomous with class, but what about them makes them that way. When I see a new benz, and then I see a new anything else I see barely any difference. All these people saying their benz's are so elegant make me sick. They have a couple more gadgets, but does that make them better cars? Not to me. They're nothing more than middle of the road cars, they're the altima's of luxury. Incase you don't follow what I'm saying, I mean nissan has the sentra (base) altima (middle) maxima (top). I don't see the point getting excited over an altima when I know the maxima would be better than it in pretty much everyway. Same way I dont see the point getting excited over a benz when something like a bentley or what are those one cars, the ones with basically lay-z-boy's as seats and a refridge and all that. BAsically what I'm saying is, why get such a big head over how great your car is, when there are much better cars out there.

I guess that's a double edge sword, as the legacy turbo is better than my car i ndamn near everyway and there are many others that are even better, porsche 959 comes to mind.

I dunno, I just think the elitist attitude most benz owners has is stupid and annoying.

Mercedes-Benz hasn't built a good car since the 80's. You could find an old sedan from the '60's or 70's and the doors will still shut like a bank vault and the interior will likely still look excellent. Now their build quality and reliability sucks as they spend their money on overstyling them so it looks like Pontiacs old designers have taken up residence and packing the cars with useless electronic gadgets (even they'll tell you they're useless, which is why they're starting to decontent features no one asked for or used in the interest of reliability).

To each their own, I just think all the Germans are grossly overrated with the exception of Porsche, though none of them since the 2.7 RS have done much for me. For that reason I must be vocal - the emperor has no clothes!

Haha, quite funny. Just as a side point... have any of you guys driven a Benz (a REAL one) recently? I had the privilege a while ago of going to a ride and drive with ALL the Benz models, excluding the AMG's :(.

Bottom line Benz's rock! Every single one of their cars was fun to drive. We also got to take out the SUV's with the AWD... woohoo  . Oh, I take that back, the little cheap hatchback kompressor sucked. Other than that, the SL's CLK's S's and on down the line were excellent at handling and a blast to drive. SL500 was quite sick and fast, but the SLK320 (or was it CLK?) was better balanced with the lighter engine and handled the course like a dream. Even the S500, stinkin luxury sedan handled like a beast. And their electronic controls rock, too. They let you hang out the back end and if you start to go TOO far or lose it... then the electronics reeled you in.

Just got to do a Bimmer ride and drive and the electronics were Nazi-raised driving nannies... wouldn't let the back end come out 1 inch without intervening on the new X3. It would pull throttle and clamp brakes like it was going out style... stupid drive-by-wire. So to sum it up, Benz's are absolutely fun to drive and they also provides lots of luxury. If you have the cash to buy them and like losing all that money you really can't knock them. The original owners never keep the things for long, so they wouldn't know about them falling apart 10 years down the road.

A friend of the family was a Benz dealer, but to be fair I haven't driven anything in the past six years or so. I just don't find anything appealing about them and they are blanded out by too many similar choices. I also don't like heavy vehicles or electronic gadgets and driving aids whatever they may do to make the car faster. A Lotus Elise doesn't need stability control. Cars that are too common turn me off, too (especially anything popular with rappers or basketball players), hence my interest in the obscure. Give me an Iso Grifo over a Ferrari any day. The common nameplates are too easily picked up by posers and wouldn't enjoy paying that much money and seeing myself everywhere.

In my early quest for a car I did look at both a M-B and a BMW. 1976 280C manual and a few 2002s, one peace-sign tailight and two federal ugly bumpers.

Guess I have to FORCE the thread back on-topic

The one thing I never liked about GT3 is the super long races. Who has time to run two hour race?
I did. In GT2 I did the 2 hour Rome race in a WRX Type RA with every mod there was. I lapped Toyota GT-One's in that biatch. I won that race, and I did every other endurance race in the game.

Mind you this was when I was 15 and had no life. Now I'm 20 and have no life, that's why I can't wait to get a PS2

i've never driven a benz, and unless someone hands me the keys to one, I don't plan on it. I have ridden in them, and like I said before it's not all that great.

I do agree that the endurance races suck monster, I think I've only done one of them.

My old girlfriend's parents used to have a diesel (sp?) Mercadies benz. It wasn't that great.

Hardy - The Altima is faster than the Maxima, and by a hefty margin. The 2.5 Limited Sentra is faster than the 2.5 Altima.
