since there is oil all over the top of the block, i am doubting valve covers. if i were you i'd take of the alternator completely off, and possibly the ps pump too. Use an engine cleaner, or oven cleaner, the brush lightly and you can just hose it off w/o massive pressure.

just wipe the shit off, and run it while looking, if it's leaking like you said, you'll be able to tell instantly where it's coming from
