Have we figured out the upgraded injector thing yet?

oops, forgot the link. It was pretty late last night.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=33554

Their hp ratings of their injectors seem off base with the way other people convert lb/hr to cc/min. By edelbrock's calculation, a 40 lb/hr injector is 420 cc/min. BUt in the table on the page I listed, they rate a 40 lb/hr injector as supporting over 500 hp. Somethings not adding up here.

You need to look at the calculation. You're converting the lb/hrs into a rate 420 cc/min.

If you use their calcs to back into what a supported hp # should be, you get about 272 hp. Which is about right I would think.

The two factors you have in the calculation however are BSFC & peak injector duty cylce. The max injector duty cylce is about right 80-85% is what you want to peak at. However I don't know what the BSFC for turbo cars are, and if it matches what they have on their site.

So all these things could contribute to the differences.

Regardless....yes I think 40 lb/hr injectors are on the small side for 500hp.

I have a friend with a 240SX and an SR20DET.

He is running the stock injectors from the USDM STi.

Doug Vincent is running SR20DET injectors in 92-94 N/A rails.

Seems to reason that the USDM STi injectors would fit well in 92-94 N/A rails, since the SR20 injectors fit, and the STi injectors fit the STi.

i think thats what nico did but i have trouble understanding what he is saying half the time,

but is it the side feed sti pinks that go into the na rails.

and if they are for a sr20det, i know that there are many injector options for thoes so i think we would then have more options. hmmmm. now to find thoes fuel rails

wouldnt it also stand to reason that we could use modded blues too.

Is there a way to ID the 92-94 N/A rails without an injector out to compare/check fit?

I could make adapters for top feed but I just paid $290 for a set of 440cc sidefeed. Seems the easy way to me, now I just need fuel rails off a 92+ N/A.

Flat manifold? As in N/A? Hmmmmm.

Also, do the side feed setups not have the problem of leaning out cylinder #3 like the wrx? Haven't heard anything like that yet.

It's Cylinder 4 that leans out, and they all do it for the most part, from what I have heard.

Just get them flowtested (it's cheap) and stuff the fattest injector in #4.

I dont think cyl 4 leans out because of fuel, I think it's because of air. Cyl 3 leans out because of fuel.

NICO I WRX U wrote:whats this parllel thing about
The fuel lines are routed in series. Fuel feeds from one end, goes to the other. You will have a pressure drop along the entire fuel line/rail path. Typically with a high flow pump, it's not as big a deal, but if your pump can not deliver enough flow to maintain pressure, the injector at the end of the line will not get as much pressure, and will flow less.

If you modify the fuel line delivery so that all lines & rails have an equal or near equal path for fuel delivery you no longer have a problem with one particular cylinder not having as much fuel as the others.

I believe someone (vrg3?) had modified a set, but hadn't flow tested them yet, so they don't know if it is actually an improvement, or just a modification.
