I don't understand. What part are you going to grind down?

the metal plate that holds the uppipe to the block. its attached to the other 2 studs on the uppipe.

What does it interfere with though?

the coolant return line that runs under the turbo hangs down too far and hits it. keeping the turbo from properly setting on the uppipe. i need to put a grove/channel in it to get it to sit properly

Oh, I see, it hits the uppipe's mounting bracket.

You might consider just getting rid of the bracket entirely. Some WRX owners do that when they install aftermarket uppipes, because they think it'll help prevent leaks.

Well, I dunno.

I know a lot of WRX people do it.

And I know most people who use OEM turbo pipes to turbocharge a factory non-turbo Subaru don't bother with the bracket.

And I know most aftermarket turbo installations in general support the turbo entirely on the pipes.

Is your new turbo a lot heavier than TD04s and VF11s are?

I guess if I were you I'd first try notching it if it's easy to do.

I think I'd try two gaskets before cutting the bracket or taking it off.
But I dont know if I'd take it off, that puts all the weight of the turbo on the DP.

ill most likely grind it. i just saw magic mikes pics and he put the stock lines on his 34. if its doable ill do that and not have any problems
