Even with the fogs off, you don't have turn signal lamps. You have a couple of other things that flash when a turn signal would.

I don't get it. Do you disagree that the reflectors and lenses are on a car's lamps for a reason?

You're justifying crippling the lighting by noting that it wasn't great to begin with? That doesn't seem right to me... how is it good to make a bad situation worse?

I appreciate your statement about living by the wrench. Aside from this one thing, I'm very impressed by everything I've seen about your car and what you've done to it. But lamps are one of the few things on a car -- any car -- that you just can't homebrew!

I'm not worried about approval -- I'm trying to a) understand your reasoning, and b) appeal to your technical and rational sensibilities, so maybe you'll to change your mind. Live by the wrench, but don't die by it. (Okay, I know that's melodramatic, but I just thought it sounded cool. ;))

By adding two more flashing bulbs.
I don't follow the logic. Are you agreeing that replacing a turn signal lamp with some flashing bulbs makes a bad situation worse, but saying that it's good because you added two more flashing bulbs?

Wouldn't you be better off augmenting your turn signals instead of removing them?

many cars usre a double filiment bulb for parking/blinker
Yes, but the lamps they're in have reflectors and lenses designed for those bulbs!

A bulb is just one part of the system that makes up a lamp. You can't get good results by just mucking with one part of a system without regard to the rest of it.

It's okay if you didn't know or understand that before. Lots of people don't. But don't turn a deaf ear now that I'm telling you.
My reasoning is, that I am of the high performance school. If I wanted safe, I would be driving a Volvo. My car doesnt even have airbags.
How is it high performance to reduce your ability to signal your intentions on the road?
You should be wondering how it got to 130
Why?

That's strange your scoop flew off at 130, my car gets to 140 with no effort and i've never lost my scoop, at least yet...

Why move to PMs?

I'm not arguing just for the sake of arguing. But it seems to me that you are. I understand how you have a vested interest in proving what you have done on your car is good, but it's not. Don't let pride stand in the way of truth.

I'm not going to willingly let Legacy Central harbor the ignorance that almost every other online forum seems to have about automotive lighting.

I'm not calling you ignorant. I'm not calling you anything.

Don't get so worked up.

Now I remember why I quit posting on this bord.

Thanks for the scan tool dude.

You can't handle being called on an engineering mistake?

You don't have to take things personally. A criticism of your car need not be a criticism of you.

Vikash is one of the nicest guys I've met, I'm sure he wasn't attacking you or anything, he's just a little fanatical about lighting. In the end it's all about what you like anyway - it's not like the lights are going to cause you to drive into a school yard full of kids at full throttle.

I'm posting a light-hearted response under a heavy air about this thread :?, but does anyone wonder if Vikash will ever crack and just go off on someone on this board for using JDM headlights or something??

No, i think he'll crack and get some jdm headlights and some silverstars with led washer nozzles and projector beam turn signals.

Vikash is a little fanatical about lighting and its applicable safety. But to each their own. A lot of people don't even use their turn signals so I would think at least using them, even if they are in a different place is better than completely ignoring them. At least you can still see the rear ones right? :P I get mad when someone cuts me off without a turn signal, but if they use one i generally let it go.
