Why does everyone always insist on spending a ridiculous amount of money on name brand parts? Subaru OEM parts are very very high quality. Do this:

And if you are serious about some real power, you will pitch the Ej22 heads and get some Ej25 heads. And then you can run a set of the Syms ITB that are available. But this only if this is more than just bench racing.

BTW, both Diz's hybrid that I built and my 2.5rs engine run 11.5:1 CR on pump gas with stock ECU's and no detonation...

And my next project has started. We are building an EJ20G block with EJ22T heads. Should be a CR in the 9's, and then we will boost it with a vf-11 at 8psi or so. We figure it won't set any records, but should at least net us 200+ at the crank...

hah yeah I figured, thats more or less why nobody has really done it... the problem with a turbo swap is finding well, the engine and doing the swap, I probably should ask around at the local subaru yards anyway, I think I learned a lot from this thread

edit- oops Matt didn't see your post, for the most part the build I had planned was hypothetical but your 'frankenmotor' project looks pretty good I'm sure the ej18 stuff won't be too hard to find, same with the 2.5, looks like thats the way to go
