I updated the pics. I put the engine in the engine stand. Had to buy some grade 8 metric bolts that were long enough to hold the motor to the stand....damn things were pricey though.

I laid out the wiring and everything.....what a mess. I'll probably just be using little connectors here and there.....other then that I'll probably just run my own wiring.

I did some spring cleaning too....I'm running out of room in the garage....hahaha

Tell me about those damn mounting bolts! I had to go all over the damn place to find the odd size bolts long enough to fit. I think they are M10 x 1.25? It was the pitch that was the real PITA to get right.

Yup, M10 x 1.25 x 100 mm.

They were like 3 bucks a freaking bolt!!! Insane!

I think I paid about the same and they're not even stainless for crying out loud. If they were either 1.0 or 1.5 pitch they would've been cheaper and easier to find.

Grade 8 isn't a metric designation. Did you get class 8 or class 8.8 bolts? Metric class 8.8 is similar to SAE grade 5.

Not that the 830 MPa tensile strength of class 8.8 will likely be a problem with 10mm hardware...

Where did you end up finding such long M10x1.25 bolts? I know it's the same threading as a lot of the exhaust fasteners but those are all much shorter.

Mine were just short of 100 mm, but it's all I could find. I either found them at Brittons Auto Parts or ordered them from McMaster, I don't remember, but I think I bought them locally.

90mm would have worked, but 100mm was all they had.

There's a specialty hardware store near me called Bearings. They have some more unique/specialty stuff.

Just thought I'd make mention of a few things I noticed today when yanking stuff out.

The bumper beam pieces that protrude outward. I'm not sure if cutting them is a good idea. They look to be spot welded at the tip. I think I'm going to try and bend them to give me the clearance I need for a radiator for the AWIC.

Other thing, I got the walbro pump.....that thing is freaking puny.

Here's the latest pics

I ended up picking up one of these.

I picked up the 19,000 gvw version (130-70268). It is thin. It will fit perfectly between the radiator and the ac condensor. The only problem is the size of the pipe inlets, its a bit smaller than I expected. I may get another one and run them in parrallel or series. I could easily fit two in there. Otherwise I have another small heater core I could run in the bumper maybe, its just a bit too wide.[/url]

So there's that much room in between the condensor & radiator?

I was going to put something in front of the condensor, but if there's room to put it behind the condensor, then why not.

I need to see how much room I have, and what's available without getting something custom built.

Man, I'm freaking beat. Engine is out.....that was cake. Getting the A-arms off was A LOT more difficult. Those damn ball joints!

I spent quite a bit of time getting the front bushings out of the A-arms. We pressed the inner portion out, and then I bought a sawzall and cut the outer metal portion of the bushing and chiseled enough of it out so it came out. I'm going up to a guy's house next weekend to press the new sti bushings in. Should be less of a pain.

I need to clean the garage up....it's a disaster.

Why did you have to pull the steeing rack for a engine change? Heh...I just noticed you and I have cars of the exact same color and year. Mine is just a "natural" AWD :D

I have to swap front crossmembers for the stock turbo up pipe to clear things. In order to do this, I have to swap the steering rack too.

You call that a disaster? You haven't seen what my garage looks like when I take things apart. Yours looks like a lot of parts all organized and categorized. Must be the engineer in you. :D
