Why are there so many repeat topics?

This is for non-Subaru related topics. Keep it realistic please.

Because it's not only the people with 20 posts. To continue with what jamal was saying, you could also just open the thread you wanted to see in a new window if you right click on it. I dunno, maybe I'm overreacting.

Well, if you want to discourage some people from visiting the board, go ahead and be bbs nazis. It's your board and you have the right to be anal about it. Who knows, it may have a net positive effect. Do a trial run and see what happens. There's always a way around repeating the actual thread topic. For example, starting a thread with a story about how your turbo died can lead into advice on how to address it. That way, it's a story you can opt not to read but one that contains information that has been stated elsewhere. You can't avoid repetition, if you did then there would be much less activity due to the fact most things have already been covered to the nth degree. Am I wrong?

That's not what I'm saying. If there's two identical topics on one subject, that doesn't make sense to me. It's going to take longer to get your question answered than it would have to have searched. If you blow your turbo and need help diagnosing it okay fine. If the next day some guy notices things acting funny with his car, funny noises and whatnot, but can't pinpoint it and it turns out to be the turbo, that's fine too. But why are there multiple topics asking if a WRX downpipe will fit? Also, I don't have any control over this board anyway :).

Oh ok I wasn't sure how specific you were being. I agree that there should be control over obviously redundant topics. I for one will at least attempt a search before posting something specific. It actually works in your favor to search anyways because there's no telling when someone will get around to responding to your post, if at all. Maybe if people were made aware of that fact it would help out. Here:

Hey everyone!!

If you want quick and easy access to the knowledge you seek then try a search before starting a new thread. It could be days before someone notices your thread and when they do they might think you're a dumbass and not respond. If anything bump an old thread instead of cluttering up the BBS!!!!

...will it fit is such a common question. Heck, those could even be moved into their own topic and stickied once the thread wound down.
