got any pics of your stuff? I'm trying to get my dad to buy a lathe and do something with all the great hardwood he has.

All I currently have are slides and a few pictures scatter around the house. I've got a digi cam for the day and I'll get some pics tonight though they won't be super high quality (poor digi cam) and some of the grain and depth from the finish won't really show but I'll see what I can do. I'll make a new post in the picture gallery. All I can say is that I strongly encourage your dad to get a good one if he does. The cheap ones are not worth it and will actually turn you off from the lathe, get it... However there is something extremely satifying when you get a sharp chisel at that perfect angle and just pull of 1-2 foot long shavings. I'll quit hijacking the post now, sorry :).

If I live long enough to not be able to drive I'll just do woodworking and gardening. I've done a few things myself, but I never had a class in HS. My goal is to build a wooden kayak and bucks for the body of my 3-wheel car.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

Metalshop and CAD/CAM were the best classes by far. Also good were history classes involving video projects, those were fun to make. I wish I could have taken auto tech (could've gotten ASE certified) or autobody.
