Chris nailed it here. Let's see where this goes. I am not currently in the market for a new (bigger) turbo, but I WILL be and I would love to see more options available.

and as for a rebuild - I'd probably do that with just about any used turbo. It's just good insurance for a longer hassel free life.

dzx - Hope I'll see (meet) you at this weekends Import drag. I'll be there Sunday (spectating). And I'd love to check out your Leg as well. The Super-R car sounds promising.

What would the 18G spool rpm be and how would that compare to the Garrett?

the spool on the 18g could vary depending on several varaibles. it flows roughly 41lbs per min. a small 16g flows roughly 36lbs per min. t3 60 is 34lb/min. so a garrett t04e 46 trim would be about the same as an 18g(41lb/min) and to give you an idea 1lb/min is usally good for 9-11hp on a efi intercooled engine(at the crank). varies with head flow,displacement,tune,ect....

If you feel like doing all the work I'd say go for it.
I wouldn't rebuild the turbo, just run it. If it smokes rebuild it. With a rotated mount it should be easy to get out.

I'm with BAC5.2 and will be going to an easy fit turbo upgrade.
