Did the one wearing the seatbelt die? Hence my reason I don't move the vehicle without seatbelt on. (Both lap and auto)Blackbart wrote:I was in an accident in February, four college girls lost control of their car, three were ejected from the car, one died when she hit my windshield, three dead total. This kinda crappy driving is not entertaining, need I say more?

The three pasengers were not belted, they left the car, two died.
The driver also died, took hours to get her out, don't know if she had a belt on or not. The third girl on the ground I thought was dead, then I noticed her breathing, a few minutes later she opened her eyes and went hysterical.
I also wear a belt, if it is not on me I feel like I am going to slide out of the seat or something.

Dare I ask if this was Spokane city/county or Cheney?
Why do people hit it if the light turns yellow?
You got very lucky. BY law, he should have taken you into custody, impounded your car, and sent you to the pokey for a night.
The fact that you had passengers makes this a little worse in my book.
If you mess up and hurt yourself due to stupidity is one thing, but when you have people in the car, you are responsible for them also.
Yes I too was once dumb and young, but after a friend got stupid in his Jeep Cherokee and rolled it with me in it, it changed my perspective on driving.
My legacy has a serious suspension set-up, I have great tires, and I have had training in high speed driving (pursuits) and handling. But you won't see me doing 4 wheel slides through the intersection or racing after a yellow light. WHY? Because A LOT of the drivers in my area are complete MORONS. ( that and it's illegal to do that stuff on city streets- as evidenced by your ticket)
Consider yourself lucky. And re-evaluate your driving.
AND re-read what you posted. I am not surprised Phil wrote you back because you sound cocky in your wording.

Kira, no one here is trying to beat down on you. I'm sure that nobody here wants this kinda thing to happen again, just because of the sheer danger involved in a stunt like this. Whether you meant to do it or not is not the issue right now. What is the issue is safety, yours, your friends, and other motorists. If anyone came across as sounding angry or blunt, it's just because they were probably amazed that an event like this went down, and no one was hurt. I have lost control a few times, my own fault I might say. I have learned from my mistakes and have learned my car and learned my skill as a driver, I have auto-x'd and learned alot.
The main thing is it was on public streets. No one really wants to see you hurt, especialy not in such a fine automobile
So what would seem as anger is really concern. I just hope you have learned from this experience, and don't consider what we might say as an attack but, words of advice from people who care about your well being.

Kira,
I am glad to see that there are more people concerned about your life and health than there are that are tring to tell you that it was a cool thing to do.
Some people like to see exciting things happen, and encourage others to do things like this....they are not your friends. They are feeding off you. Learn by your mistakes, and if you are smart you will learn by OTHER'S mistakes first. Yeah.....I'm an old-timer.........something we all hope to be some day.
Be carefull,
we like you,
Frank
PS: Cut up that credit card!!!!!!!

What a story! No, I'm not drooling, or wishing I had been there. (Although had I been, you might have some upholstry cleaning to do, and one hell of a lucky LCO member.) Well, at least you're not a Female Asian driver. --Everyone hates those.
I do have a suggestion, though, since it sounds like, from how you described your tale that you didn't QUITE know what you were doing, or at least, the science of it. (In addition to having a completely STOCK car.)
1)Drive to Border's or Barnes and Noble, or the EWU Library, CAREFULLY!
2) Goto a Title Search
3) Look for "Going Faster!" By Carl Lopez.
Going Faster is an incredible book written by Skip Barber (tell me the name is familiar!) and many of his instructors at his world reknown school. It will give you a better knowledge of what you need to know to control your car, or any car, for that matter, at low and HIGH speeds. You'll gain a better idea of what the Apex is, Braking and Entering, as well as track layout (which better prepares you for road racing) and suspension setup of an individual vehicle.
Personally, after getting only so far into the book (lack of time these days) I can see it's going to be an indispensible tool in my driving menagerie, and for $30 and your time, I see no reason why you couldn't pick one up and learn a little bit as well. For, while your friends think you're badass right now, they won't later when they realize you really REALLY didn't know what you were doing. (It's okay!~ No one really knows what they're doing ALL THE TIME.)
Next, your Neg 2. Wicked cool bragging rights. I been there and done the neg2step, and it's a dizzying experience. Check 'Mitigate' or whatever on the back of your ticket, and go play nice with the Judge. It's not a big deal, and since I KNOW you're a cute little girl, you go be all you can be (army brat!) in front of a prick with a degree and get it knocked down. If you show up, and are reasonably CONTRITE (One of my mother's favorite words.) There's no reason they won't knock it down. Believe me, you DON'T want a Neg 2 riding your driving abstract for the next five years. It's up there on the 'drop' and 'uninsurable' criteria, and if you can get insured (policies end, life goes on...) you'll notice the difference.
Way to push your insurance demographic group, 16-24 year-old American Boys are counting on YOU to level the playing field.
I'm glad you're alright, though, and your friends thought you were pretty spiffy. There's nothing like scaring the crap out of your homies and having them watch you deal with the popos all cool and collected. You're a rockstar, now.![]()
That's my piece, glad to hear you're alright. Don't mind Phil, he's just passionate about good driving, as we all should be --Subaru's street cred rides on US everyday we get behind the wheel.

I have done similar things before and gotten pulled over for one. I had two minors in the car with me, and one of the minor's grandparents following me. I was showing them how my car sticks to the ground even arround a fast turn. So as I was rolling up to the light it turned green and I had an arrow to turn left, so I did at about 35 mph, Now it was a very sharp turn so there might have been a little bit of wheel squeal. Now I didn't push it that hard, I did have others with me and older individuals following me, but I drove well within my limits not pushing it too much. And I was still pulled over in parking lot about 35 feet from where it happened. The officer said "that I was haulling around the corner trying to show off for my friends and I went up on two wheels." Nothing of what he said was true. I explained to him that I was not able to get my car on two wheels, even if I tried. WE discussed this for some time and after threatening to arrest me and impound my car, he walked away without giving me anything but a dirty look. It was an experience I learned from, and I no longer go fast thru lights on heavy populated areas, especialy where cops can hide. It wasn't a life or death situation, but with that much traffic and that many dumb drivers who don't pay attention, it could have been. I might not have been wrong for what I did, but I was also not right.
Another good thing that came from that situation, other than being able to learn from it, was I got to share the experience of racial and age profiling to an older white couple. The grandpa was quoted as saying, "had I not seen this first hand, I wouldn't have believed it. I didn't think cops were that bad at picking on black people..."
I then had a hearty laugh and we continued on our journey.

Laurel's already dubbed you the female ricer equivalent of myself. (Mostly due to your muffler, but we know how cool DTMs are, so screw what everyone else says.Suzie-Q wrote:i don't know where the yellow light thing came up. the light had just turned green so i wasn't trying to beat the light. but i believe when i posted i simply asked if anyone had done the same thing. i didn't ask for lectures and lessons from everyone. but thanks.

Thankfully, none of our active and known members have reported serious collisions, or worse, death, in their Legacy, although 92BlackBeauty(?) is still in pretty bad shape after falling asleep behind the wheel one night. The point being, that kinda stuff comes up on DSM, teamintegra, and honduh boards all the time, mostly because some kids just have too many sticky fingers in Dad's wallet, and all over the Mugen parts catalog, than they've got in books at the library on skilled driving.
We've got a motorsports section, and I personally would like to see it used more for general questions about driving. Dont be afraid to ask, there's no harm in asking.
So I'm sorry you felt like we jumped all over you (I'll save that for our meetup, whenever that goes down

Live and learn. That is all you can do.
Just to clarify.Blackbart wrote:Kira,

I didn't mean to imply I thought it was cool. I was just being fecitious. I do like wild girls but only to a point, hehe. You should obviously consider your own safety and the safety of those around you. Taking chances will eventually catch up to you, take it from me.
After reading the post, it sounded to me like she recognized it wasn't the best thing to do so I was just kind of playing it off. She's able to make her own decisions, nuff said on that. I think that lecturing someone on driving is a bit pretentious so I generally try to avoid it.
