"Drunk driving is what I like to do. I like drunk driving with you" - Ziggens greatest hits.

(Please do not take offense to this as I do not condone drinking and driving. I am just refrencing a song)

Think before you drink! Use a designated driver. The life you save may be your own.

I'm a fan of that. Some people have no self control. So if you can't do it in moderation, don't do it at all. :smt115

I don't even drink. Don't get it twisted...I do drink stuff other than alchohol.

I keep it pretty slow around town, gas is expensive and i dont need any attention. I don't like whacking the limiter in 1st, which i seem to do, i never drop to 1st unless im at a stop or autoxin.

I like to go a gear higher than optimal and see if i can pick a line that can hold peak cornering speed through the turn. Other than that... poor engine.

Yeah, don't drink and drive. I got a DUI and it's not fun. The funny (strange) thing about it is that I really am not a drinker, it just so happens that it was New Years Eve.

I went for years without a traffic citation and then that happened. So don't drink and drive and don't get pissed off and drive like a maniac over a female drinking or not. I got the message though, my hearing was on Valentines Day and the court date on April Fools. God does have a sense of humor. Why did it turn her on that I was a 'bad boy'. :???:

I never understood the straight edge thing but I had friends that were all about not doing anything at all, even coffee. What did it do for them? I have no clue, but it did make them pretty grouchy.
Williamsport, the asshole of the N.E. Bring the KY and stay a while.
What is up with that sig? Are you from Williamsport?

I try to keep it under 3000rpm unless I have to. Gas is not cheap anymore. Don't get me wrong, I will hammer on it now and again, but in normal civil driving, I'll try to use the highest gear without bogging.

I shift usually around 3000 to 3500, previously shifted before 3000, then I took a road trip and did some shifting around 4000.
Seems to be pulling a lot better at higher revs, doesn't seem to like the 2000k shifts, May be different with Turbos, i dunno...
I don't want to take it higher than 3500 on a regular basis, due to age of engine, already blew my bus engine, so it's my only transportation.

well, the bus engine is air cooled, and therefore lugging = engine death

I keep it around 3000 rpms normally, 4000 getting on the highway, and even when I'm "pushing it" I don't push 5500 rpms, because the peak power point is around 4500 anyways...

If you're refering to the EJ22E, the NA, peak torque is at 4400 and peak power is 5500. I may be + - 100 rpm but I used to take my old engine up to 4500 and called it quits figuring I had my peak torque and the old engine didn't need pushed.

I don't like to beat on it either, and gas is expensive. Which are probably bigger factors in my driving than power levels, as they're all very low ;)

But what I love to do, is accelerate INTO corners :)

I usually shift out of first at 5k to 5.5, sometimes even 6. I wind second until I'm at or near 5. Then I drop it into fourth to hold the speed, sometimes reduce it. I rarely use third. It's a rather useless gear unless I'm in slow traffic, downshifting, or on a long curvy on ramp where sitting in second for too long isn't that good of an idea. Fifth is for freeway use or when I'm low on gas and broke. I usually cruise at 15 to 25 over on the freeway.

And I love to give it through turns. Like on ramps that turn you around like 180+ degrees. Fun shit. I like to catch the guy that got the metering light before me.

I picked that sig because it was funny when I read it.

Isn't that what it's all about?

What's interesting is to do an acceleration run with the 4eat . Others may have noted this--put it in first, leave it there and with WOT run right up
to whatever. It hits each shift at 6000 right up to fourth. [/img]

I was just wondering if you were from the area because you've got a mysterious profile, hehe. I figured you must be somewhat local to know the reality that is the port.

i shift out of 1st at 6500 usually, and the same in second. i have a 4eat so thats just when it shifts at wot. well i dont do that all the time, sometimes i drive like a sane human being

I usually shift really fast when im going around town. But getting on the highway i'll wind out first and second to get to 60mph. At lights i'll take off the same as other people unless i hear their engine winding up, then i'll step on it. Usually they decide they dont want anything to do with my car after first gear and they won't try again after that.

Ive noticed this... but is it at all bad for the tranny and engine?

I wouldn't reckon so. Most of us around here with 4EAT's have high mileage ones, and doing that kind of shit, you'll drop one in a flash.

I like to take it to 6k in first and second a few times every trip, but then get pissed about wasting gas so I cruise at 40mph in 5th.
1st gear is crazy short so redline comes along damn quick. Im sick of getting speeding tickets on the highway so I just cruise at 80-85 until Im sure there wont be a speed trap.

i have a 4eat, the other day i stuck it in first at the light before the on ramp, i was behind a car, so i stuck it in 2 when i got to 5000 rpms, hard thunk from the tranny which doesnt like the autox 220 hp beatings, got up to about 4400 rpms in 2 boost at 0 then punched it when the lane comming from the other side showed up with noone in it, 15psi means i nearly hit the car in front of me before i moved into the other lane. wreckless, slightly. but dam was it fun as hell.

On wet or snowy roads it's best to drive at the limit of adhesion----
then you know where it is. No surprizes. :smt087
