Right On, another Briefs fan. Thats a pertty good list, and don't feel bad, I'm not really into any of the Emo/Screemo stuff but I still like My Chemical Romance... they have just a little metal edge.

And BTW 206er, I'm a long time fan of the Heat!

Gary
Yea, MCR's first album is actually really good. The Briefs are great. First time I heard them was in a black Label video on Patrick Melcher's part. I've been hooked since.

Yes.

Come on Splinter....sing with me....

I fucked your girlfriend last night.
While you snored and drooled, I fucked your love.
She called me Daddy. And I called her baby when I
Smacked her ass. I called her sugar when I ate
Her alive till daylight. And I slept with her all
Over me, from forehead to ribcage I dripped her ass.
Sometimes I thought you might be spying, living out some
Brash fantasy, but no. You were knocked out. But we were
All knocked out you know. In a way

I serve too many masters.

We didn't know you'd break the bottle that the magic
Came in to use those jagged shards to slit our wrists
And neck. And you'd do it too, you're that kind of dude.
But you wouldn't know what you were doing because
I didn't, your girlfriend could have been a burn
Victim, an amputee, a dead body. But god damn I wanted
To fuck.

I'm losing what's left of my fucking mind,
I serve too many fucking masters.
(I told you. I told you motherfucker)

I know...I figured splinter would be able to keep up seeing as how he thinks Pantera isn't "sing along" music.

Maybe we could sing Cemetary gates instead.

My daughter got me into the Briefs (and a lot of other cool stuff), They are really best live, I've seen them 4 or 5 times. About a year ago my daughters teenage all girl punk band (Savage Lucy)opened for them, very cool guys.

The twgn is still too noisy for tunes, but one of the great road collections
is the sound track from Easy Rider :-)

Well...nothing makes me drive fast like Bluegrass...especially some good ole' Earl Scruggs...

Country is good, especially early 90's "Paint the Town Red" songs

Buttrock comes in a close 3rd...(the Darkness!!!!)

Devil music like Rammstein helps get me goin' sometimes too...

That is really cool. All girl punk band for the win. If we ever go on tour, we will have to find some way to budget in a west coast trip, if they're still together we could maybe play a show.

No one's mentioned Sneaker Pimps, yet, eh?

Well, I like a couple of their instrumentals --i think they've been mentioned before -- Lightning Field and Splinter.
Both are long -ish, ~6mins.

I like instrumentals with lots of different beats and things --the music, I think, has to be as complex and beautiful as the machine I'm driving.

It gets even better if I can accelerate and shift gears in synch with the crecendos and rising tempo.

I tend to lean toward non-verbal types for actual driving; for cruising, it depends on the weather, although its usually rock or rap. (I'd put Sublime in their own category, although to me, all of it is summertime music.) 'Slow Motion' is awesome to cruise to on hot sunny days, like 'Shed so many tears' is for my rainy days. Old-school Pac ftw.
Heh, anyone remember Craig Mack's 'New flava 94?'

Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, the Eagles, The Beatles, Yes, The Who, Ted Nugent, Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith....not necessarily in order of who is best, IMO, though.

I should also add that I think some NIN (especially Downward Spiral) is good to just pop in and let it play if you're going on a long trip or something...

The best NIN album was Pretty Hate Machine. Don't get me wrong I like all of them...

I would also like to include stabbing westward and Alice in chains.

Alicia Keys (we won't get into that....I SAID WE WON'T GET INTO THAT SO DROP IT!)

Stabbing Westward is pretty cool, but Darkest Days is awfully depressing... even for me!!!

FAITH NO MORE!!! Epic kicks soooooo much ass!!

I failed to mention Fuel.....yes I like Fuel.

At least I don't sing "Man, I feel like a woman" by Shania Twain like Wiscon_Mark does as he strolls thru the countryside.

(I only said that because he messaged me last night and then bailed 10 minutes later)
