If I saw that in my radiator, the first thing I would do is a compression test and a leak down if you have access to one. After knowing my motor was in good condition, THEN I would move on to finding out the less worrysome stuff.

Well mechanic looked at it today. Looks like it is the head gasket. Car isn't overheating, yet. He dropped some sort of pellets down into the engine, don't know specifics. The pellets are supposed to help with the crack in the gasket.

And since I lack the $$$, the knowledge to do it myself and someone with the time to do that kind of job...I am stuck with it.

I guess the question is, without anyone really seeing the engine: how terminal is the patient? And if anyone has encountered this before how much time does the patient have? Estimates would be great. Thanks much.

Is there anything out of the ordinary with the oil? If you're getting oil in your coolant, you may be getting coolant in the oil. This does bad stuff to the lubricating properties of the oil and can lead to worse things.

My mechanic mentioned that, but didn't seem concerned that that was happening. How many hour job is this?
