 I was going to say, that Holset setup should already be able to handle the power levels you're looking for, Nick. ;)
heaven help you if it isnt enough
now keep in mind that holset wastegates are intended for diesels, which dont have the exhaust energy of gas engines. also, the HX35 has a convoluted wastegate setup where the wastegate port is only in one runner of the turbine, which causes boost creep.
so, external may be the way to go.
nick, what holset did you have in mind? HY35 or HX35? an HX35 with a properly designed twin scroll split header would be sweet.
gotta love the fact that holsets make full boost below 4000 in higher gears too...
I'm thinking of going with a holset but I dont know if it is such a good idea with the bottom end I will run, 350BHP is my goal.
sammy, is that an audi 5000t wastegate? those are a very good unit. 600hp capable, durable, cheap. but I'm sure you knew that.
what did you do for flanges?

Trust me, I know A LOT about using Holsets on gas motors...I wouldn't just try it if i didn't lol :D

They are a very common upgrade for 2.3T Fords, and some good friends of mine build equal length, twin scroll stainless headers for them, so I am pretty well versed in setting them up correctly.

I do actually plan to run the HY35 or a HX35 with the splitter machined out of it, as I will not be running twin scroll initially.

I will be doing some stuff with a Perfect Power and DIS2 to help keep the Holset spooled as well, as it could become quite a lag monster

My power goals are at least 350awhp.

anti lag on a street car? youd be going through turbos way too quick.
sounds like HY35 with the 9cm turbine would be better if you dont want to use the twin scroll, although....
have you seen what can be done with the twin scroll turbos on a regular collector?
 http://www.speedshopthagard.com/project ... index.html

put that on a wastegate actuator set to about half of your full boost pressure, or whenever the holset would really start to make power.
how could you seal that butterfly shaft though?
what do you think about a holset on a 2.2L hoping for 350chp?

Anti-lag = Nitrous ;)

I have absolutely no reserves about using launch control and anti-lag on a street car.
