I put Avid mechanical discs on my GT I-Drive... cheap, and very effective. Got 'em on Ebay. There's TONs of clearance and take-off stuff there, lots of disc setups, including pre-fabbed hydraulic setups.

I need front shocks; can someone recommend a decent mid-range setup? Disc-only, standard wheel, for single tracking, no big hucks...

Careful with the OEM takeoff discs, they usually suck. You're better off with the Avids unless your spending some good cash on a hydraulic brake.
