Running the car @ 3000 rpms most of the time (80%) on the highway + city driving with freuqent stops and moderate acceleration (but not usually more than 3500 rpms) and the A/C on 50% of all of those miles has netted me 28 mpg, 29 mpg, & 28mpg the last 3 trips. I just can't help but think that if I were running @ 2500 instead of 3000, I'd be getting a lot better mileage. The car is more than torquey enough for that.

In winter, 24-25 is more what I get.

When I do more mixed driving (50/50), it's usually 26mpg summer/ 23 winter.

just bumping this thread because i was lookin to see if anyone else gets the crazy low fuel economy that I do. I have a 94 SS auto and I only put 94 into it. Now I drive like an ass a lot but I should still get a little better than what I get. I get 13.64 mpg, so an average of 350km to a full tank of gas (yup im canadian). I thought something was wrong with my car, but it seams that some people (mostly canadians) get as bad mileage as I do. Is it just that we all drive like asses? or is it because of all the igloos, polar bears and maple syrup on the roads :P

350km per tank is about the best I get and it doesn't seem to make much difference whether I'm driving it hard or not. During the winter it's even worse... the Subaru service guys tell me it's because of 'winter gas'. Not sure what that's all about. Even my wife has complained about the mileage in her Outback during the winter.
