Yeah the EA82T isnt a very reliable motor. But it does make more power than the EA71 by far, and would be an easier swap.

If you didnt modify the crap out of the EA82T it will last forever with propper maitenance.

I've never really held the EJ22 to be "powerful"

i know the EA82T isn't powerful, but it has more shit and get then the EA71's could ever dream as well as most EA81's. i had a 86 3dr GL-10 basically a 86 RX full time awd etc. which i put on a WRX TMIC, legacy VF11 turbo, and made a custom intake and full 3inch exhaust. it had enough power for that car to have fun with and not have problems which is what i would want for a DD.

Oops,
I kind of forgot about this thread. Lots of comments and input. Thanks. I had already read enough to realize that to do what I want to do, I will need to do a tranny and a rear end swap along with my engine swap. I think I mentioned it in my first post, but I don't expect this car to see thelight of day for at least 18 months, maybe more. Anyways, from what I am seeing from various source, the early Ej series heads will clear the frame rails with little-to-zero cutting. It will be one of those wait until it happens sort of things for me.

I personally have no interest in turboing this vehicle. I want something torquey to play in the dirt. That's why the Ej22 heads with some Delta cams and either an Ej22 or Ej25 bottom end will be the approach. With the size and weight of this vehicle, that will be more than enough for me...

I still haven't picked it up. I tweaked my back at the beginning of the week, and need to round up some help to go get the vehicle and get it onto a trailer since it isn't running. I will be sure to post pictures once I get it. It needs ALOT of work...
